freehivescott 0 #1 August 9, 2004 Hi everybody i am just newbie on the forums and want to buy a skyflyer so i got a couple of quesition on the back deflector for you guys . 1. What does it do. 2. How does the air get in and how does it affect your flight performance. Pics anyone ? Thanks in advance
VectorBoy 0 #2 August 9, 2004 It is an opening from the front side of the body to the rear. If you look closely at the leg wing inlet vents you will see that this the start or leading edge of the legs wing area. The deflector is just a hood over this opening. This makes the skyflyers a two wing design. two completely different and separate airfoils. The Matter 2 has a deflector also, really it is just a fairing as it is not open on any side rather it is inflated via crossports from within the suit. ManBird 0 #3 August 10, 2004 The original purpose of the rear deflector was to allow air to pass through the leg wing to reduce the chance of a pilot chute in tow on a weak pull. It also gives the leg wing a major boost in forward speed, because it is routing air over the wing, thus putting pressure on top of it. The deflector itself is also a small, inflatable wing. The shape it gets when inflated reduces turbulence coming off your rig."¯"`-._.-¯) ManBird (¯-._.-´"¯" Click
mccordia 73 #4 August 10, 2004 Sometimes people are also caught trying to inflate the wing with stomach gases, but the relative wind really is enough to do so....(a back-deflector is NOT a good excuse to fart!)JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
