heftee 0 #1 September 23, 2003 Hi everyone. I'm thinking about a new container. My student rig had the leg straps that you have to step into and tighten up, but the used gear I bought a year ago has the snaps. At first I hated the snaps (because it was different), but now I love them. Saves me from having to do the balancing act and all that. So, my question, what are the pros/cons with the snaps before I buy a new container? do they sell new models with those or are they old school? thanks! ------------------------- "If you've never jumped out of a plane, the best way I can describe it is it feels as if you've just jumped out of a freakin' plane." NightJumper 0 #2 September 23, 2003 Pros: helps people that are not flexable. Cons: cost more (option on most rigs) and is two more things that you have to check.

diablopilot 2 #4 September 23, 2003 The "snaps" are usually called B-12's. They are avaliable on almost every major rig avaliable today. The Pro's I'm sure you already know: easier to get into.... Con's: Not as atractive from a resale stand point. Not avaliable in stainless steel (if you select that option) Not usualy avaliable on articulated harnesses. Prone to damage if banged on the ground. Some people find them uncomfortable.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
freakydiver 0 #5 September 23, 2003 I'm just plain nervous of straps - its one more thing to check and to fail - of course I'll bet they rarely do. Hazarrd 1 #6 September 23, 2003 On one of the rigs at the DZ where I did aff at, the B-12 clip was messed up to the point where it didn't shut all the way. I agree though, its much easier to get into. However, as someone already said, you wont be reselling it for the price you want. .-.

KevinMcGuire 0 #8 September 24, 2003 I once owned a BASE rig that had B-12’ snaps. One night after a really cool jump, it became necessary to leave the landing area in a real big hurry. Because of the B-12 snaps, I was able to get out of my rig while in a flat out sprint. It’s hard to imagine a need for getting out of your rig that fast at the DZ but I must admit that was cool

It’s hard to imagine a need for getting out of your rig that fast at the DZ... Think "water landing", a charging bull, a broken leg, or to go help someone else quickly. And most importantly, for POPS jumpers: hit and rock competition!
jumpwally 0 #10 September 24, 2003 Yes,,you need to check the B-12's,,but youre an idiot if you think the normal hardware can exsist unchecked................everything needs to be checked and double checkedsmile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083
