gus 1 #1 September 17, 2003 Was told over the weekend by a friend that he was expecting a (Parachutes de France) Ninja 2 sometime soon. You may remember that the original Ninja was grounded, does anyone know anything about the new one? GusOutpatientsOnline.com
kevin922 0 #2 September 17, 2003 what was it grounded for?
gus 1 #3 September 17, 2003 Reported collapses. I don't know whether the grounding was ever lifted. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
Chrisky 0 #4 September 17, 2003 If i got it right, it was redesigned from scratch so it doesn't (shouldn't?) collapse anymore. So basically it is a new canopy design, but it's marketed under the same name. IMHO pretty stupid when a canopy is known to collapse...The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. From the edge you just see more. ... Not every Swooper hooks & not every Hooker swoops ...

Laurent 0 #7 September 18, 2003 Hi, The grounding of the original Ninja has never been lifted. Even a world class canopy pilot, Loic Jean Albert, has been lucky to be alive after his Ninja collapsed (december 2001). PdF has good products (atom legend, Electra, tandem harness...) but the original Ninja is to be avoided ! gus 1 #8 January 9, 2004 For anyone that's interested there's a video on the pdf website with some Ninja 2s (here ~5mb). There should be one at our dz soon so it'll be interesting to see it. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
SkydiveMonkey 0 #9 January 9, 2004 It's only x-braced in the middle as well I believe? They just changed the trim slightly from the old one and opened the nose a little more.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
johnny1488 1 #10 January 10, 2004 Quote Icarus managed fine with that strategy. True, but crossfires weren't known to collapse. Crappy built ones were. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
Laurent 0 #11 January 10, 2004 Our DZ owner and his son are now jumping a ninja 2. According to them, it's a good canopy (they have 2000 jumps, and jumped the original ninja before it was grounded). I'm not good enough to try the ninja 2, I can only tell that I saw them flying fast and then landing safely with their new canopy. The term Microline serves to catagorize line types that are smaller than Dacron and other "Parachute Cords" "Microline" in common usage includes Spectra, Vectran, HMA and others.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. They use the term "microline" just for spectra lines. But still the point of my comment stays the same
 ernokaikkonen 0 #15 February 9, 2004 Quote"Microline" in common usage includes Spectra, Vectran, HMA and others. Common usage isn't always correct. AFAIK "Microline" is PD's trade name for Spectra. To avoid confusion, I wouldn't go around calling Vectran "a microline".
