You had to see that coming...

Canopy Relative Work (CRW) turned in to Canopy Formation (CF). Relative Work (RW) turned in to Formation Skydiving (FS). In a quest for legitimacy, it's no suprise that the name of this new discipline has changed to follow suit.

Yup, and pretty quckly too.

There are new regulations in Denmark this year. One of them is that to freefly, you gotta be "VFS certified" - basically have the safety aspects of freeflying verified by a VFS instructor before you start flailing about. And a minimum of 75 jumps.

Not sure thisword is entirely appropriate in this context though. VFS = high skill and experience required, something a n00b is unlikely to have. But I guess it gets the point across.

Yup.....VRW / VFS is following suit. The best way to be adopted by the IPC and the USPA for that matter is to make this follow the same track as RW / FS.

As for a difference, relative work is the same as formation skydiving. But do you say that you are going up and doing a FS jump with your friends? No....you say you are going up and doing an RW jump. However in competition, relative work is classified as formation skydiving....FS. So VRW will still most likely be the term used in common place while VFS will be the technical term for it in competition....
