photognat 0 #2 February 2, 2016 4K 60P is awesome and M-JPEG maintains great image quality but it's freaking huge: 800 Mbps (6GB/minute) is gonna get old really fast unless you're shooting a commercial. Also only partial readout in 4K, so your full frame is now APS-C. And since no 5D series has had 4K yet, it's unlikely that the 5D IV will have 4K 60p. It's more likely to be 4K 30p, and for that you're better off with an A7SII/A7RII with sensor stabilization (which the 5D IV won't have) or $1,000 for an NX1 with digital stabilization (which works pretty damn well). hackish 8 #5 February 9, 2016 I think it's really the wrong tool for the job. The 5d series is more suited toward action type photography whereas the 1D series is more for studio work. I don't think I'd put my 5DS on my helmet because of the sheer weight. Last year I shot with a 70D and even that is porky compared to the rebel series. In my opinion the major gain you have is just in the low-light performance. The full time pros will already have them on pre-order. But no, I don't want all that weight strapped to my head either. For quite a while now the 1D series has been the hardcore sports photog camera of choice. Before the 7D and 7D2 came around, nothing could touch the frame rates of the 1D series camera. The new one is 14 or 16 frames a second right? 5D is a fantastic camera, but the faster frame rates and more robust auto focus of the 7D series and 1D series make them the choice for many "sports" photogs. Having said that... I can't see many skydiving photogs shooting the 1dx-II unless it was for some serious paying work. I can't see it being a daily jumper for many of us. For most of what we do, the size/weight/cost to benefit ratio isn't there unless someone is paying well beyond the going rate for a tandem video/stills. My 1DX does everything I need it to and more. If I was really into 4K shooting I would probably go with a dedicated video camera for that.Chad B Hall Woo hoo!
