Camcorders for Macs

What she said...
HDV works great.
AVCHD works great.
If speed is your need, lose the Mac. If you just want to be able to import vid....Any cam that reads on a PC works fine on a Mac. If it's an MPEG-based format (most are these days) then you'll be converting to another format. That's the price of using Apple.

CX100-very common
GoProHD-going to be extremely common
HC5-quite common
HC3-quite common

these are all HD cameras. SD cameras (for the most part) are DV, and DV can be imported to Apple as a DV.mov file, which requires no conversion.

this is all news to me.. i have tried a cx100 and it dosent work, tried another sony that didn't work, tried a hp something and that didn't work either. I know the system is lacking drivers to support the files. the sony imported as a CPI or CDI file. You must have got a "SUPER SPECIAL" mac.. wow, cool!

There are hundreds/thousands of Mac users successfully using CX100 as a source.
Perhaps you're using an old version of iMovie, FCE, or FCP?

Or a pre intel chip MAC, the motorola G4-G5 perhaps.

great point, forgot that not everyone is on an intel machine.
No non-intel machine will support AVCHD.
