Stroboframe Is Out of Business

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd just post this in case anyone is interested.

That's right, our favorite camera mounting company doesn't exist anymore.

B&H are still selling Stroboframes. However, if you really will be needed them in the future, you better get them while you can. There isn't any talk of someone taking over the company and continuing to sell them. I just purchased three of them just in case. :)

I'm not that Tiffen is the company that is having the problem. It may be the maker of the Stroboframe itself. Tiffen may have the option of taking over manufacturing, but there isn't any evidence that they manufacture the part.

If I can find subsantial evidence, I will post it here. Otherwise, hope for the best until then. _DC

Sorry Quade, your correct that the TIFFEN site is working. Please see the edit to my post. I don't think that Tiffen manufactures the Stroboframe. They are the key distributor. I was told, by one of the rumoring parties, that Tiffen is slated to take over manufacturing, but they haven't made any moves toward doing so.

Naw, that's cool, I just got back from the hardware store. Got a dozen thumbscrews. Cost 19 cents each.

I'm gonna be like Paragear, and sell 'em for 2 bucks. Anyone?

Hola guys, I used to work in the camera biz, Tiffen is in trouble. Therefore Stroboframe as well. They must be trying to keep something together, we stopped using them as suppliers over 6 months ago.

Never go to a DZ strip show.

Tiffen hasn't returned my emails to them on the subject yet.

I had a chat with the folks at Calumet today. Yes, Tiffen is in a bit o' trouble, but they certainly don't seem to be going out of business yet. Tiffen is the the US distributor for Stroboframe, but not directly tied to it and Stroboframe won't necessarily be screwed as a result of any of Tiffens problems.

Calumet says they're not really having an issue getting the basic brackets we all use, but they have been having some problems with the more essoteric and specific anti-twist plates for some cameras.

Just talked to a buyer at B&H and he said that Tiffen is only the distributer for Stroboframe and that if they do go out of business someone else will step up and take their place. He made it sound like there was nothing to worry about as far as future availability of Stroboframe products.

Dear Mr. Quade:

Thank you for your email.

I'm the Product Manager for the Stroboframe bracket line and was very
surprised to hear of the rumor that we're no longer in this business. As a
matter of fact, we just returned from the PMA show in Las Vegas where we
displayed our full line of brackets and just introduced our new Folding Flip
bracket.

We really appreciate that you took the time to inform us of this rumor and
just didn't accept it as fact. You can feel confident that we're not only
continuing to supply brackets but we're investing in new products going
forward.

Feel free to call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX if you have additional questions or
concerns. I would interested to hear how this rumor came about. Hopefully,
it is not wide spread.

Thanks again for your email.

Best regards,

Dawn Wicks
Product Manager
