mounting the Stroboframe 300qrc to a hawkeye

Recommended Posts

Does your hawkeye have the flat top? The stroboframe I have just mounts to the top of my optic with 2 screws from the inside.

If you don't have the flat top, then I'm not sure. That's out of my league. You'd have to fasion some type of mount to counter act the curve of the helmet and give you a flat surface in which to mount the stroboframe.

a couple longer screws and some wshers would work, but it would increase the potential for snag as it would not me along the lines of the helmet and just waiting to catch something.....even more so than the camera you are putting on it...

The Hawkeye comes in 3 versions:

the "LS" -Left side mount ONLY ($245)
the "TM" -Top mount ONLY ($245)
the "LT" -Both Left side, and Top mounts. ($293)

The "LT is slightly more expensive than the first two, but with the added flexability, I don't see a reason not to order it that way.

I have the straboframe on my hawkeye and it kicks ass. Instead of just screwing it straight to the helmet, I mounted an aluminum plate on the flat area on top, and then mounted the straboframe base to it and the helmet. I was concerned about the fiberglass of the helmet cracking and weakening, or even pulling out. It's pretty sturdy. Also, use really friggin big ass washers on the inside of the helmet.
my pics & stuff!

Take a pice of white paper hold it against the bottom of your stroboframe mount use a crayon, peel the paper of the crayon lay it on its side and rub it on the paper .It should leave a real nice template to drill your holes .Simply tape the paper on your helmet and drill.. :)

A friend will bail you out of jail , a REAL friend will be sitting next to you in the cell slapping your hand saying "DUDE THAT WAS AWSUM " ................

you can disassemble it. this reveals two screw holes on the bottom plate. now you can see where holes are from the top. then take the bottom plate and put it on the surface on your helmet and take magic marker.. rest is simple.
