Ray Cottingham

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if Ray Cottingham is still filming. I still see his photos in Parachutist and I read an article that he is base jumping some. He filmed a couple round formations that we built in Idaho back in 73. He was a sky god even back then.

Great story teller, too! I can just sit there and listen to all the 'no shit there I was' stories and 'this is how it's done' teaching mini-seminars he shares when asked. Wonderful sense of humor, too! Yep, he's at either Elsinore or Perris most every weekend!

Here's a picture of out team down at Star, Idaho. (Taken by Ray Cottingham). B. J. Worth is on the upper left. I'm the one who looks like a Peeping Tom behind B. J.'s sister. We were able to build the 1st and 2nd all collegiant 8-way ever built. B. J. came up with a patch and numbering system for this but it never really caught on. I anyone would like my autograph I'm running a special on them this week. Steve

Ray is still in the air. Last month he shot the vid of a 8-way team I am jumping with this summer. We were down at Elsinore and I believe he jumps mostly there. He jumped with us for two days and the video he did was outstanding as were the stills. I only wish he could have made the 8-way look a little better on some of the jumps! I guess the man can only do so much.
