robskydiv 0 #1 March 9, 2003 Hello everyone. I recently asked my rigger if he would sew some booties onto my jumpsuit. He recommended afterburners. I know that they will better my track, but will they help any with turns?
mewing120 0 #2 March 10, 2003 Not exactly sure what "afterburners" are....but booties will definately increase the effect of your input. Ora Vivo
voodew1 0 #3 March 10, 2003 If you have an extremely fast fall rate and need to slow down the after burners might help. Usually they can be velcroed shut if not needed. Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, afterburners are a 6 inch to 12 inch pocket sewn on the legs of the jumpsuit to catch air. If you don't fall real fast they will not be of much use. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
hookitt 0 #4 March 10, 2003 This Question would be good in the Relative Work Forum. A well versed belly flyer could answer this much better. Booties allow precise control...(they do now give you precise contro, they just allow for it) After burners don't do an awful lot for you.My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... billvon 2,406 #5 March 10, 2003 >but will they help any with turns? Not really; booties give you more "rudder" surface and afterburners don't. The part that really matters is the flat surface between your knees and your toes, and afterburners don't have that.
darkwing 4 #6 March 10, 2003 I believe that afterburners are highly overrated. Just get plain booties. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

robskydiv 0 #8 March 10, 2003 Thanks Billvon. I had wondered if there we're any additional benefits to them besides slowing the fall rate. You answered my concern. Harry
