Best place to attach a hook knife

Recommended Posts

It should be like this:
- you grab your butt (SOFT tissue)
- actually grabbing bidirectional cutting knife (by small velcro attached), one on each butt
..and then carefully watch what line to cut..

As soon as you figure out you don't have a clew what to cut - CUTAWAY!

on my 2nd reserve, I did exactly so - and still typing.

two knifes, bidirectional cutting, chest strap, leg strap. With butt knife - Great. (don't cut reserve risers, ever)

edit: I get it Princess, knife is single, knives are plural. (get it now)

You have TWO butts & TWO reserves??? ;)

I should consider that because the time I had a lineover on my only reserve, my one butt was so tight I could have used another one!

CReW guys must have THREE butts! B|

I was six, my mom asked me how many children I will have.
I said: "two"
"why so"?
I said: "two balls - two children"
There was a laugh seizure around guests.

No shit, two knives, however grabbed - they cut, reachable by both hands.

I keep mine on a mudflap, because my leg straps are frequently covered by my wingsuit. I leave it there because when I'm not flying a wingsuit, it's still there, so I don't have to remember to put it back on and it's always accessible with both hands.

The 5 that I carry when doing CRW are only considered excessive by non-CRWDogs.

And the obvious answer to, "Why carry 5 hook knives?"

There wasn't room for 6. ;)

My larger size knife is on the back of my chest mount altimeter pillow. Lays on my sternum, a part that never bends so it's never uncomfortable and it helps keep the altimeter in the proper orientation.

Hi Terry~

I don't know what kind of knife you use or exactly how you wear it, but do you have any concerns regarding having something hard and sharp that close to your heart in case of some kind of impact breaking it inward?

I whiel filming CReW I carried on on my chest, one on my wrist, and one on my leg...

After filming sevral Raps,. I'd say the riser would be a great place for one too!

Put simply, there are nevr too many locations for a hook knife!

I have a clip of a Tandem master at Perris, breaking 3 hook knives trying to cut away a stuck droge...after all three broke, he took his chances and fired the reserve into it...it cleared!

I'm pretty sure that clip is on Booths Training tape now, (no it was nto Booth as TM) , it was a retired Drill instructor , and I have never seen anyone stay so calm during an emergency!

Great Job Rockey, if yer out there reading this somewhere....
