Washing a Jumpsuit

Recommended Posts

Quote

My wife builds RW suits. Her materials are supplex, super stretch spandex, pack cloth, some acrylic (for the big boys), some kind of cord stuffing for the grippers and leather on the booties. She recommends cold water, regular cycle, take it out immediately after the end of the spin (don't let it sit and have colors bleed) and hang it up to air dry. Do NOT put it in the dryer.

So far she's had no problems with this method.

Pretty much word for word my post.

Nylon shrinks in heat people, condition your leather, keep the grippers straight, wash on gentle, be nice to dogs

I also drop in a Shout Color Catcher sheet. Don't know if it actually does anything but I haven't had the colors bleed yet.

I do that with mine. My tony suits don't tend to run much. I do have an old 1980's era suit that still leaves a color catcher red!

Gentle cycle, cold, spin, hang dry.

Maybe next time I should try washing my jumpsuit at home. Would save me some $.

I don't jump as much as you guys so I probably can go for a few months in between washes.

I just use a tub of prop wash...then hang it on some flight line to dry.
