kallend 1,625 #2 January 28, 2022 Being the world's policeman didn't work out too well for Britain in the 19th** and early 20th Centuries, and hasn't been so great for the US in the 20th and 21st (so far). ** Interestingly Crimea in the 1850s and Afghanistan in the 1870s both proved costly to Britain. History repeats?

History repeats? The US shouldn't be the worlds policeman. It should be the leader for democracy and the west. Only the US can stand up to Chinese and Russian hegemony. A US president should have to shake hands and look every service-member in the face before they had off to any foreign danger zone. The US response to Libya should be the model. They waited until the EU took the lead before they sent AC into action. Coalition building and sanctions should be front and center. Dust should build up on any battle plans before any dogs are released. The problem with the US military is that civilian leadership think action is painless and cheap. That one quick success can be duplicated. Thats a mistake.
