I'm somewhat doubtful that Trevor Noah will be as successful on the Daily Show, but for reasons other than his historic tweets.

The Daily Show, much like Speakers Corner, has predominantly USA viewership with a lot of US political content. A non-US presenter might not be able to pull off those kinds of gags with the same confidence and 'home-ground' credentials.
I can foresee a few; "What? Noah took a shot at ? WTF does he even know about ?"

My sentiments exactly.

To me as an avid 'The Daily Show' fan and a South African foreigner, it is not just a comedy show. It is also a very relevant commentary on current affairs in the US. I don't think Trevor has the insight and finger-on-the-pulse necessary to pull it off.

He is an average comedian who has been riding the coattails of the late Nelson Mandela and his own bi-racialism to get his laughs. It won't be enough for something like The Daily Show.

I do wish him good luck though.

Well, one thing to remember is that Noah won't be doing this alone. He will have the (mostly) same group of writers behind him that Stewart did. I would be pretty surprised if Jon Stewart himself didn't keep his hand in the writing/production too.
