YES means YES law - Ca. gets it right

I believe that when a young man picks up a dead drunk women at a party, who is seen by others to be dead drunk, he damn sure better be careful about what happens.

I realize that this could be a he said she said situation. I personal believe that as a society we have reached a point were laws like this need to be passed (I'm NOT a big LAW passer)

The sad part is that there needed a law like this to be passed. Again how "cool" is it to take a completely drunk person to bed?

You may get to a point where a badly drunken person isn't given a ride home out of fear of what could be claimed....

Its a fetish among thousands of others. Go to any porn site with user up-loadable content and search for drunken/passed out if you don't believe me.
Your rights end where my feelings begin.

Of course the male can avoid the issue by not being so drunk, or to not be with a women that is so drunk as to cause a problem.

Much as it pains you to think of as a dad of 3 girls, ladies do make bad decisions when drunk, and many are just as horny as the men and make conscious decisions to jump in bed. I have little sympathy for their next morning regrets, much of it coming from our instilled Puritan beliefs. So I can't favor laws that attack these men in an effort to get easier school expulsions against the actual rapists.

The fact that we still see ~20,000 deaths a year due to drunk driving demonstrates that we'll "avoiding being drunk" is not a practical expectation to have of people. It's the nature of it - you might say I'll only have 2 drinks and then stop, but the buzz of 2 drinks leads you to reconsider and next thing you know you're downed 6. One can avoid the temptation to then drive home by having planned to use a cab/bus/train/Uber in the first place.

Going to parties in groups is a similar defensive move, though that may be more about avoiding roofies and other serious attacks.

And depending on the study you read, rape is the most common sexual fantasy for women (other studies have it listed in the top).

That doesn't mean that women actually want to get raped.

Fetishes and fantasies are not necessarily indicative of actual conduct.

Ok white flag, I give.

Asked my daughters and they are very comfortable kicking guys in the balls as needed. They may or may not be "as horny as the men" but none drink much at all.

So I bowe to the fact that this is just a terrible idea, that all people should be created equal in the eyes of sexually wrong doing..... and that Ca. will fall off into the ocean and Canada will rule the world within the next two years.

We good? B|

Here we go. The "yes means yes" sex app to save the day.

Quote

The ink was barely dry on California's groundbreaking "yes means yes" sexual consent law when we heard about Good2Go, an app that lets adults put their lovemaking affirmation on the record.

The bill by state Sen. Kevin De León requires state colleges to establish a standard of "affirmative consent" for students who want to engage in sex. Verbal or even written consent must be given by sexually active college-goers under the law signed Sunday by Gov. Jerry Brown. Nonverbal communication won't cut it under this legislation.

The app by Southern California-based Sandton Technologies means that prospective mates can whip out their phones and record their affirmative consent for piece of mind.

The free app, which can be found for both Apple and Google-based devices, asks users if they're down to get down (answers include, "No. Thanks," "Yes, but ... we need to talk," and "I'm Good2Go").

But it also takes it one step further by administering a light sobriety test as well. It asks if users are inebriated, and if they say, "I'm wasted," it won't allow consent to be recorded.

However, Standton Technologies president Lee Ann Allman was quick to say that the technology does not amount to legal documentation. While the California law says that students accused of rape have to show administrators that verbal or written consent was active at all times, the app isn't intended to be used as legal evidence.

"We go to great lengths to say it's not a legal document," the technology executive told us. "It's a point of data."

Allman said that she and her husband came up with the app because they have a 21-year-old son and an 18-year-old daughter in college and were concerned about their well-being.

Good2Go includes ongoing dialogue during which a participant can change her mind—on the record. "There's a reminder screen that says consent can be withdrawn at anytime," Allman said.

It might seem strange or even bizarre to imagine a world in which one of the most human of activities, sex, is accompanied by your smartphone. But remember that the newest generation of college kids treat their devices almost as an appendage. It might not be so strange for them.

"They seem to be very comfortable with it," Allman said. "It's like online dating—now it's natural and obvious. I can see the evolution of this app in some young persons' hand, helping them to learn the language of consent."

Oh, I can see how that will be successful. Going at it and about to climax when consent is abruptly withdrawn.
