dreamdancer 0 #1 November 6, 2011 jesus says... QuoteA series of senior figures stepped up their attack on the City in an assault that comes a week after the Church refused to evict protesters from outside St Paul's Cathedral in central London. They spoke of a financial sector which sets a moral tone for a society which had become "scandalously unfair". The interventions included: • A call in an article in The Sunday Telegraph today for fundamental reform of how the financial world works. It was made by Ken Costa, a former bank chairman and the Church’s newly appointed leader of an initiative to build links with the City; • The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, said executive salaries were creating a gulf between rich and poor that made “societies less cohesive” and called for an end to official honours for financiers; • Dr Giles Fraser, the cleric who quit as canon chancellor of St Paul’s over plans to evict protesters, said there was “financial injustice” that had to be addressed; • A report written by Dr Fraser on behalf of a think tank endorsed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, is to be published tomorrow, claiming the City’s reliance on technology was dehumanising its values. The rhetoric used by senior clerics and Church advisers will further deepen a rift with the financial sector and could backfire by discouraging the City donors who significantly fund St Paul's. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/8872333/Church-leaders-accuse-bankers-of-losing-their-moral-moorings.htmlstay away from moving propellers - they bite blue skies from thai sky adventures good solid response-provoking keyboarding

captain_stan 0 #3 November 6, 2011 Quotejesus says... Says what? I missed the part where he became politically active and damanded looting the assets of the affluent. Aren't you confusing him with Robin Hood? QuoteDr Giles Fraser, the cleric who quit as canon chancellor of St Paul’s over plans to evict protesters, said there was “financial injustice” that had to be addressed A clergyman decides he'd rather be a political activist, and a church decides it doesn't want to be used as a political platform. What's the problem with that?

Bertt 0 #5 November 6, 2011 This is not the first time something like this has happened. You can read a similar story in Mark 11, 15-19, for example. You don't have to outrun the bear.
jtval 0 #6 November 6, 2011 Meh, They're all after power and control of the human mind and freedom of will. The main difference is that gov't will lie steal and cheat to get it....while the church only lie, steal and cheat to get it. one group fucks children, the other fuck prostitutes. They both make up their stories to lull the masses into a sense of security and peace. They both tell you that they have your best interest in mind. they both tell you that without them the society wil crumble into chaos they both tell you that the other is causing the chaos. Oh, something about guns too. that should cover all the key points. My photos My Videos

Jesus made it clear that the temple is not to be misused as a place to exercise the pursuit of money. So St Paul’s had good reason to evict the class-warriors and distance itself from their materialistic struggle. I trust they would be more welcome if their interests were spiritual in nature. I don't remember reading that Jesus personally intervened to disrupt capitalism in a similar manner outside the temple.
