Pretty much but I don't know why you included prostitutes.

But???But????? But????? You said yoru welding job is worth just as much as their job, You earn what they earn, NOW, you admit they work harder, longer, more stressful???

Which is it??

Just Ego talking?

trying to make melting metal sounds as important as rebuilding bones, hearts, muscles?

In terms of number of people benefitting from it, it is far more important. Surgeons have a direct impact on a relatively few people. Most people never have to have surgey.
Work longer, sure. But that is a major reason why i feel they are not worth what they charge. If somebody is going to be cutting on me they damn well better be fresh and alert. I don't care if it is a heart transplant or remove my appendix. If they aren't then they are providing second-rate services. Harder? I doubt that very much. As a weldor yourself you should know that most surgeons would run home crying to mommy if they had to work in the conditions most weldors see every day. Laying on their back in a muddy trench freezing their ass off, etc. More stressfull? I'd put that at 50/50.

And the guy who picks up your trash is even more important in the grand scheme of things. (The Black Plauge demonstrated that pretty conclusively.)

Should he make at least what a surgeon makes?

The Black Plauge was spread by rats who transmitted it via fleas. It is well known that rats need very little to live on. They are quite abundant even in neighborhoods where our Gods surgeons live.
Do you believe a person should have their wages restricted because of their job?
Do you believe a man is entitled to charge what he wants for the work he does as long as the customer is willing to pay it?
Do you believe a person is within their rights to take advantage of anothers misfortune by charging an hourly rate that is far in excess of what most other professionals make?

Right. But when sanitation is good (i.e. sewers work, trash is hauled away, houses are well-constructed etc) the problem of flea-infested rats infecting people is minimal.

>Do you believe a person should have their wages restricted because

Nope. Nor should their waged be elevated merely because they believe their job to be very important.

In most cases, yes. Even if they act like a douche.

In most cases, yes. Bail bondsman, towing companies, fancy cocktail bars and hookers come to mind.

as well as, electricians, plumbers, A/C heat types (heck, ANY type of 'repair' business), cab drivers, DZOs, dentists, car dealers, skydiving equipment manufacturers, (endless list IYGWIM)

And riggers! Don't forget riggers. Those bloodthirsty vampires add insult to injury by having the gall to charge you _more_ after you have a malfunction.

well, if a rich doctor or a rich welder had a mal, the rigger would be justified to charge triple for the repack

but not the poor engineer, or IT guy, or paramedic

right?

You really have a problem understand the concept of of "not replaced", don't you?

no more a problem than you have with "the real world."

I have a suspicion you don't find this thread nearly as funny as the rest of us.

Oh, don't worry, I have no problem with the real world. But some people do have problems when it comes to conceptualizing something they have never seen before even if it would never happen and is only a hypothetical situation.

And, yes, I find this thread quite amusing. I am taking all posts with a grain of salt. Especially yours.;)

I am very claustrophobic and would never do well in an underwater welding environment, wet or dry. I also do not take well to water.

Maybe the movie "The Hangover" was based upon one of Bill's weekends away from home? Hmmmm....
