Rookie120 0 #4 July 22, 2009 Is this for real? The ACLU has nothing better to do than go out to the middle of the desert and bitch about this? What a shame. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
StreetScooby 5 #5 July 22, 2009 This is pretty sad. So, are they going to take down all the crosses at Arlington, too?We are all engines of karma
rickjump1 0 #6 July 22, 2009 The ACLU wants to remove crosses on all federal property short of removing those on graves. I personally believe they will attempt to remove those on graves. Interesting that one of the plaintiffs here is a vet himself. By Kelly Donovan, Daily Press, Victorville, Calif. Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News Jul. 19--One of the plaintiffs who sued the federal government over the Mojave Cross hopes he has found a solution to the controversy, but his proposal is controversial itself. Allen Schwartz, a 67-year-old Jewish veteran in Colton, has purchased a 2-s...uare-foot cross of Malta for nearly $700. He wants his cross to replace the Christian cross on top of Sunrise Rock in the Mojave National Preserve. "I'm doing the right thing," Schwartz said. billvon 2,435 #8 July 22, 2009 Here's the solution: =========== Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) crafted a plan to keep the cross in place by transferring the patch of land where the cross sits to the VFW in exchange for five acres of privately owned land elsewhere in the preserve. The legislation was approved earlier this year, but the transfer has not been completed. =========== That solves the concerns on both sides.
