Art ..... or child porn!

Recommended Posts

Naked Baby pictures that you share with friends and family I have no issue with, but naked pictures of random kids displayed for the public I don’t know man something not right about that for me.
Honestly I can’t even point out the why or a reason for it I just know I wouldn’t let my kid do it, b7ut then again I wouldn't want my kid in a beauty pageant either.

I have no Issuie with being naked or the naked adult human body.
Feel free to post a pic;)

I don’t get why anyone would want their 13 yearold girls naked body to be photographed and then made visible for everyone to see.

I think there is something wrong with that, what’s the good reason behind using your 13-year-old as a nude model?

Is it ok if playboy starts a new 7th grade girl’s naked section?

Their pictures aren’t porn either.

Yeah, I can see what you're saying about the 13-year old model thing, though. I don't know if I really see the point of it either. At least use someone worth looking at! ;):D

How do people feel about children on nude beaches? It's not like it's a bunch of people fucking all over the beach. It's people in their most natural state, naked. There's nothing porographic about it really. Having never been to one, are children banned? If not, should they be?

That’s so funny that you just asked that because I just asked that from my self.
I love being naked and was just wondering what it would be like on a nude beach and as you sated nude beaches are not what most people think. Its people of all shapes and sizes just being free.

I really don’t know there is something about making a permanent record.

Here is another question. What if you were at a nude beach with the kids and noticed someone snapping pics of your nude children?

I know I would be pissed call the cops.:|

As a father of 2 teenage daughters, I'll weigh in on this.

Below a certain age, even if a child "consents" to something, she is not yet competent - does not yet have the requisite judgment - to make a genuinely "informed" consent - whether it be to vote, or marry, or have sex, or enter into a contract, whatever. (That's why the old-fashioned name for the age of majority is the "age of consent".) In reality, of course, the ability to form and grant one's own informed consent naturally varies from person to person, and from context to context. But, laws need to apply to everyone, so that's why (semi-?)arbitrary ages are written into various laws.

Do I think a full-frontal nude photo of a juvenile can sometimes be art, even tasteful art? Yes, absolutely. But, sometimes, even if it's in a completely non-pornographic pose or context, it can ALSO (i.e., simultaneously) be exploitive; and at the point when it becomes exploitive, IMO that factor trumps its artistic quality; and at that point, yes, the child needs to be protected, even from herself.

So where does it become exploitive? Tough question, but I'll give it a shot. To me, taking such a photo of a juvenile, even an ostensibly willing one, becomes exploitive when - for example - she doesn't yet have enough judgment to fully appreciate the potential consequences (such as the possible effect on her future life if the photo is disseminated in public, or used to discredit her some time in the future), or if she doesn't yet have the judgment and presence of mind to intelligently resist the persuasion of influential adults like relatives, teachers, clergy, etc. A 13 year old juvenile may eagerly consent to a nude photo of her gracing an album cover, whereas by age 18 she might not because by then she realizes that the day may come when she would greatly regret having done so.

I don't know exactly where the age-line should be drawn; but personally I think a 13 or 14 year old's judgment is still sufficiently under-developed that she is not capable of making an intelligent decision to submit to a graphic nude photo of herself - meaning that if an adult persuades or even allows her to have such a photo taken, it is probably exploitive.

Where did I say YOU had a problem with a naked baby's butt? I said I can't believe it has to be blurred out on TV. You just happened to be the last person to post.

You should remove the last person from the subject line if your reply isn't really directed at him. It was a fair reaction on his part.

As to the greater question - who doesn't have a problem with this sort of art? Nudists. They can look at 13 yos in a non sexual context. Why does Hansen prefer youngsters - he says they have the innocence that is lost in adults.

Not sure. I don't believe there are any restrictions at all. Since the areas are well known, and marked, I think the onus is placed on the parents whether or not they're allowed there. Now, whether they're allowed to be there naked (the kids) I have no idea, but I'd assume yes.

There is a state run nude beach in TX that is 18 or over ONLY. At the resorts i have been to that have nude beaches and/or nude pools, same thing, usually the whole resort is adults only. However, many naturist camps are family oriented. They are usually private clubs and as such can be much more selective in their clientele. At a naturist camp/resort, the people there are used to being naked and know the difference between nakedness and sexuality. They don't have to go together (not directed at you Ian, i know you know the difference) On a public nude beach or in a public art gallery, you get a whole different mix of people, and thus one can't control how others perceive what they are seeing. Some people will always see nudity as sexual. The rest of us know the difference.

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

Ah, thanks for the info there Jeff.

I guess it makes sense on both counts. Since the government can't control who's at the beach I guess the 18 restriction makes sense - BUT since the naturist club can, it makes sense to allow it. That said, I understand why placed like Hedonism don't allow kids at all - but then again their intent isn't nudity and is sexually driven.

> I just feel kids should not be in these types of pictures.

Again, that's fine. It's only when you try to impose your morals on others that we have a problem.

Well, we wouldn't have child pornography laws at all if it wasn't for some people trying to impose their morals on others.

I don't think it's simply the fact that kids are naked in Bill Henson's pictures that has caused a controversy. I think that it is because some (very few) of the pictures are sexually suggestive pictures of children. It is subjective though, and I wouldn't call it child porn, but it's certainly more in that direction than your friends' nude baby picture is.

Well, I love a nekkid woman's body.

I think the issue becomes how the nude body of a child is displayed. Is it for a more prurient reason?

I'll put it this way. I've got no problem with an adult putting her volva out for the world to see. If some believe the woman is being exploited, well, it's her exploit that allowed it to happen.

Children, on the other hand, I view differently. Children CAN be exploited. Children may have little idea about sexuality. They may find themselves put out there for some sick bastards to get off.

Adults have choices. Children usually have no choice. Tracy Lords may have seemed adult in just about all ways, but she was just a kid. As an adult, she quit porn. I don't believe her films should be out there because I believe (my opinion) that she was a 16 year-oldld girl who was exploited.

To me, kids are far more easily exploited. They have no choice. They cannot consent. And that means that, for me, a decent general rule is don't show them. A funny video of a kid's naked butt falling in the mud? That's different - it's put out there for a whole other purpose.

But using naked kids a "Art" is a whole different ballgame.

But as always, Chelle, I respect your opinion and insight.:)

Please don't misunderstand. I am not agreeing with using children as nude pieces of "art". I think that's a bit... odd. I was more or less referring to the *gasping* response to any form of nudity (like a baby butt).

I know that, Chelle. :)
But you are right how even the mention of skin creates some irrational responses with people. But that's because people draw different lines.

You'll find the same thing in all issues - like religious people in government.

Bill Henson recently had photos pulled from a Australian Gallery. There have been a large amount of people speaking out condemning the puling of the pictures.
Last week a female photographer displayed naked photos of her pre teen daughter in protest?????????

What is going on

A man goes to a Psychologist and says, "Doc I got a real problem, I can't stop thinking about sex."
The Psychologist says, "Well let's see what we can find out", and pulls out his ink blots. "What is this a picture of?" he asks.
The man turns the picture upside down then turns it around and states, "That's a man and a woman on a bed making love."

The Psychologist says, "very interesting," and shows the next picture. "And what is this a picture of?"
The man looks and turns it in different directions and says, "That's a man and a woman on a bed making love."

The Psychologists tries again with the third ink blot, and asks the same question, "What is this a picture of?"
The patient again turns it in all directions and replies, "That's a man and a woman on a bed making love."

The Psychologist states, "Well, yes, you do seem to be obsessed with sex."
"Me!?" demands the patient. "You're the one who keeps showing me the dirty pictures!"

"O brave new world that has such people in it".

.... Taxpayers money hard at work!!!!!!
?

As an Australian taxpayer i am quite happy to help fund that mag, with my taxes.
I would much rather fund art and proponents of art, then a whole load of other taxpayer funded agendas.

Thats the thing.... Unless its an all or nothing deal someone is going to have to decide.... Who????.....How can you expect a 12 year old girl to be able to make an educated decision on if she want s to pose, or how it may affect her in years to come (great if a schoolmate gets a hold of those)...

So you have to leave the decision to the parent....:S[:/]...

And i stiil want to know where the appropriate place is to hang a big picture of a fully naked slightly suggestive 12 year old girl...... Great conversation starter........So how long have you been a pedophile?....

Wow THAT long.......and you havent been caught????

.... Art you say....well i guess it IS hanging in your living room so what else could it be.?

Just creeeeeeepy!

I saw a couple of his pictures that looked to me as though the photographer was aiming for a sexually suggestive picture. They certainly weren't outright porn, so I can see that the courts would make a decision in his favor, but they weren't exactly the "look how cute my two-year-old baby looks in the bathtub" type of pictures either.

If I had a teenage daughter, I wouldn't want her posing for a picture in the nude, lying down with her legs spread apart and (what looks like) blood on her thighs. Most of his pictures don't seem to be like that, but I saw a few that made me think "OK, creepy photographer dude using art as an excuse to get teenage girls naked." But that's just my opinion.

This is the part that keeps being overlooked,
YOU think it's Slightly suggestive. that mirrors more your moral preachings than it does an inanimate object.

Because that's ALL it is it is an inanimate object that people place morals and opinions on. It has no real suggestiveness, the qualities of the image are ONLY those that PEOPLE (you) put on it.
