Unprovable assertion = belief It's quite simple really. There are some people going around saying that there is a god. Atheists don't believe them. a·the·ist [ áythee ist ] (plural a·the·ists) noun Definition: unbeliever in God or deities: somebody who does not believe in God or deities To be an atheist you don't have to assert anything. rehmwa 2 #34 August 20, 2007 QuoteQuotereligion? you mean like Christianity, Buddism, Atheism, Islam, Hinduism, and Environmentalism? Atheism isnt a religion by the way... that depends on how it's practiced, now, doesn't it? in SC, it's clearly elevated to religion - it definitely acts as surrogate to religious belief for many. but, we've all been down this discussion before - it's one of my favorites If one wishes to see their own belief system exactly as they interpret it and in it's most positive light and insist on others treating it that way, then they need to also do that for another's belief systems - I think those that zealously insist on the "it's not REALLY a religion" certainly don't practice what they are asking for in their crusade they conduct with such missionary zeal. Would you bet $100 that over half of the so-called "Atheists" posting here most vigorously, are 'passive' in their practice of Atheism? WHat percentage are actually anti-religious, rather than passive, due to some specific event or series of events in their life that turned them against, not off. It's the worst kind of anti-social bias and based on grade school teasing mentality. Ignorant Apatheticism is the only way to go. It's more fun and all you religious guys (both actively pro and actively con) provide great entertainment in your earnestness. militant anti-bobism is also a worthwhile pursuit ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
