While I agree the Pentagon should have disclosed this info sooner, I disagree about the amount of outrage the incident would have caused. One of the killers is dead and the other one is in jail.

If it serves a purpose... Yes. Some "cover ups" can save lives.

I'm sure there was a reason for the delay... It could have been for counter intel purposes. Maybe there were a number of insurgents that got into the iraqi security forces and they didnt want them to know they were on to them... Thats just one idea... Is it reaching? Sure. But so is jumping directly to a conspiracy theory.

They can't name what prison the other one is in.

Sound like they are still covering up. Its pretty stupid it took them 9 months to explain this to the family, where we know an investigation took them maybe 1 month? at most.
