quade 3 #87 August 17, 2005 If my house had as much unimproved land as the properties in Crawford appear to, not only would I allow them to camp there, I'd encourage it! Then again, I have an agenda. ;^) That said, up until today when they got permission from some homeowner, NONE of them had been trespassing or at least nobody had ever been changed with trespassing. Hell, the guy that fired the gun . . . nobody was on his property! But again, I think you can really only hold GWB accountable for what has gone on in Crawford. If he had stayed in The White House or Camp David (which by all accounts is a pretty freekin' nice vacation spot!) none of this would have been the public relations nightmare this has turned out to be.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

As this goes on I > believe its doing more harm to the liberal left than good because > the majority of Americans do not stand with Cindy's protest they > stand with her son's sacrifice. Name the wacko leftists that made these statements supporting her position: "You can support the troops but not the president." "Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years." "Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" "The President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These . . . do not make for a sound foreign policy." "Our comments are not just those of grieving parents. They are based on anger, Mr. President, not grief. Anger is an honest emotion when someone's family has been violated." "If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy." "I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. . . .These questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today." "Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."

crwtom 0 #97 August 18, 2005 QuoteTwo words man... "Volunteer Military" Her loss is tragic, however, it comes with the territory. I have great respect and appreciation for what he's done. I have none for the way she is handling the situation now. I think she is doing her son a big disservice. What a riot! Now the people running around with those ribbon and stickers with "Support our Troops" (really meaning "Support Bush") turn around and say "well they volunteered and had it coming - tough luck for them". Does it mean I am a real patriot if I say that 100'000 or so troops in Iraq and Afghansitan are none of my care and bother since they knew what they were getting into and signed up voluntarily. That I am a true American if I think nearly 2000 killed and 10000 wounded US troops are a routine matter that is hardly noteworthy since that comes with the territory. Death as a matter of semantic convenience I suppose? Wow, I can't wait to read the contorted logic that is to wind itself out of this one. (but probably won't have time ...) Channman 2 #100 August 18, 2005 Boy, I'm wondering if I had ever played baseball with you, you would have us all to believe we lost the game with the first strike out. Hey I know I got things alittle wound up, but Cindy truely is not helping the cause for the Peace Movement. 80% of the troops believe we are doing great things over there and want the American people to watch their back ie "Today Show" yesterday. They believe in their mission and while Matt was interviewing them, they said the news is not covering the real propress being made in Iraq. Code Pink is one organization that supports Cindy's cause, came across 4 of these individuals last week end at an out door play in Herman Park, Houston. Wearing Pink Veils with gags on their mouths, with the names of the fallen on pink slips of paper. Most people were making fun of them and given them currious looks, and there were some supporters from the croud as well. However I believe it would have been far better to have dressed normally and speak to people while handing out there materials. Once again, if you look like a wacko, dress like a wacko, and say wacky things around several thousand people, many of them not all but a large majority will simple wright you off as a wacko.
