PK you are in the dark here or something. I hope you're just playing a long with the joke.... Cause if you aren't it's not really ok to be laughing so hard at this thread.

Turning Gay Teens Straight
Posted: 6/6/2005 10:54:44 PM

Angry protesters battle it out with members of a Mid-South group who are trying to turn gay teens straight! Protesters say the Christian based organization “Love In Action” is brain washing kids and putting them in danger. The program’s organizers say they’re giving gay teens a guide to a straight lifestyle, through prayer.

Reverend John Smid says “The truth is that if someone is expressing themselves homosexually, they are involving themselves in inappropriate sexual conduct.” Smid has been the executive director of “Love In Action” for the past 19 years. He makes no apologies for his strong beliefs about gay and lesbian lifestyles. Smid says he used to be gay, and says sexual exploration by youth is out of control. “Youth are involved in sexual expression through internet pornography through internet communications and physical relationships in heterosexual and homosexual ways, it’s all out of control.”

Rev. Smid says “Love In Action” only aligns teens’ sexuality with their parents Christian beliefs.

Protesters showed up in front of the refuge today to protest. Janelle Treibitz says it’s wrong to force kids to participate. “They lump homosexuals with drug and alcohol abuse as if it’s somehow on the same plane, as if it’s something that needs to be treated or healed.”

Protesters fear the long-term effects on families. One protester says “When you have these very natural feelings and you are forced into something like this from your parents who you would hope would be a center of love and guidance and support for you, it’s just a really harmful thing.”

Janelle Treibitz says not every teen needs intervention, rather understanding. “Some of these children are not struggling they know their sexual identities but parents won’t accept it so they send them here. But those who are struggling and have questions, there are psychologists that can be seen.”

I don't think it's Turning White People Black, but I do think that the "Moral Ultra Conservatives" such as this group and others like them are quite possibly getting close to going off the deep end. I understand that parents are wanting their children to "Attend" these camps, but it all boils down to the argument of "Are you born gay, or is it something that you develope like a habit?" If I had a child, and the child informed me that they were gay, I wouldn't care. The life lessons I would want my child to learn from me would be that God wants us to be happy, and to try not to harm each other. I would also want my child to know that what ever their lifestyle choice would be, to just stay away from the bad things out there. Maybe if mankind spent a little less time trying to assimilate each other into the likeness of their own, we could focus on some more important issues, such as AIDS, and cancer. Let's break it down a little more, and focus on issues such as poverty, education (or lack there of), and hunger.

There are so many great things that mankind has to offer, and we are wasting our time on fighting over who's rendition of the bible is correct, and who is going to be condemned to an eternity in hell because they didn't interperit the bible like some other people did. Or how about arguing over wheather or not gays and straights can lead a happy and coexistant life, and if gay people need to be heterosexualised and retrained. What about cultures that feel women are sub beings? Each and everyone of us has something great to contribute to this world, wheather it be a scientific discovery, the cure for cancer, swooping longer than the rest of the general populous, or even just raising children to be tollerant of each other.

...If your kids are happy and healthy, you really can't ask for more than that.

Go forth and multiply....er....if you can. :D
My reality and yours are quite different.
