That is an appeal to authority, and it is not a legitimate argument. Intelligent people can be wrong too. 1. It wasn't even meant as an appeal to authority - I don't look at you as authority in the least. - I had professors in college that I got to know outside of univ and I called them academic elitists for saying they are doctors so they must be right, so I don't subscribe to some academic hierarchy. 2. You'd laugh if you heard all the names that were suggested when this forum was created. Personally, I voted for "the Trash Can." Most forums have that and let whatever happens go. Sometimes it's better to have a place for people to 'let their hair down,' it keeps the rest of the forum cleaner.

What about the iraqi civilian deaths, they all died in iraq. I guess they were really happy to be liberted of their lives. How many soldiers died in New York and Chicago in 2004, that would be a more meaningful comparisson than what you posted. The Iraqi civilians do mean quite a but to me, hence I am adamantly against the war.
