Dan's funeral will be in Canton Ohio this saturday, the information can be found at Yahoo Groups "hpcskydivers". For those that can, Dan's family welcomes the skydiving community. For those who cannot Hartwood will have a memorial day on saturday 10/30/04 the info is also on the same site. If this too is unattainable for you, we understand, organize a sunset load in Dan's name at your home dz;or, if this too cannot be accomplised...a moment of thought and reflection will be the greatest gift of all. Blue skies to all, Ron Outlaw

Daniel G. McFadden
Daniel Gerard McFadden, father and aviator, made his final flight Sunday at Fredericksburg, VA. Born in Akron December 5, 1953, Dan was fifth of 13 children of Vincent and Florence McFadden of Canton. Dan was an altar boy, sang in the St. Louis Church choir of Louisville and was an Eagle Scout in Troop 15 B.S.A. Graduating St. Thomas Aquinas in 1972, he joined the Navy, then Air Force ROTC at the University of Akron, graduating as Lieutenant with a degree in Theater Arts. After flight training at Del Rio, TX Dan flew hundreds of refueling missions for the Strategic Air Command, later for the Air Force and Navy Reserves, serving in Desert Storm, he left service in 1998 as Major. He acted and directed at the Players Guild of Canton and theater groups nationwide. He was flying for a parachute school when his plane crashed just after take-off. No one else was injured. He is survived by his mother; former wife, Diane Watson of Louisville; their daughter, Kimberly; and his siblings, Frank and Vincent McFadden, Florence Stahly, Margaret Carney, Angel Steed, Katherine Simmons, Mary McFadden-Cohen, Tim, Dave and Monica McFadden, and Ann Granata. Dan is preceded in death by his father and older brother, Michael. Services are at St. John's Church of Canton 10 a.m. Saturday, October 23. A graveside ceremony at St. John's Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospice of Louisville.

We would like to thank all who attended the Memorial Service and to those of you who had Dan in your thoughts today. There were approximately 50 people who attended.

Dan had to be laughing at us because after years of being used to his "perfect spots" everyone on the Memorial Jump, landed off the DZ. It made all of us realize even more how much we are going to miss him.~~~GM

note from aprilcat
Hi everyone. Its been a wonderful journey, and a wonderful closure.

By the way--GravityMaster is not mean...he's not even METALLIC!!! He & Nancy took care of everything and I'm sure that those who could not be with us will see postings that inspire. Special thanks to the McFadden Family for being with us for the Memorial. Big Blues everyone (and if I'm not back in NY by Monday...send water to rust the Metallicman)~~April
