The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant

Recommended Posts

I struggled through the first chronicles. It was always 10 pages away fromn being a really good book but it never got there. Can't imagine following it through to the "last" ones.

Oh hell, I'm gonna have to check that out....

I remember the other thread - I always enjoyed the books, but they *CAN* be hard to get into.

I've always been able to immerse myself in the world the author creates, so I didn't have any problems with them. To me, it makes a big difference in the enjoyment of any book.

yeah, my brother is really into this stuff. I tried to read the first book, but just couldn't get into it. The main character always seems to be stymied by some type of angst that I couldn't really understand. The tone of the book was just so over stylized that I couldn't really get into it.

It took me three tries to get through the first book, it was definitely the toughest. The guy either writes with a thesaurus next to him or was born on a dictionary. But after I got into the story and mindset of the characters, I couldn't put it down (except to occasionally pick up the dictionary and figure out what he was saying).
