Salary Information. Where?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how to get average salary info for your area/your field?? The place I'm contracting for has offered me a permanent job and asked for a number, and I'm trying to get a sense of what's reasonable. Monster doesn't list my job title. Any help? Thanks.

Sr. Instructional Designer - Managing department.

I ran it through Babelfish. Came up as :"Sr expert pancake maker". Is that so?

Oooh. Interesting. I'd not heard the term before.

I'd imagine you'd need to broaden the field to "trainer" or "cbt" to get meaningful data. However, since you're a department manager, a lot of that will go out the window.

How many people will you be managing? What's the department budget? Is your role central to the success of the company?

Salary.com is one of the better ones. You can go to the Census and look at that as well. Most of the major job boards like Monster have something simliar as well. Your local unemployment office will have a breakdown for certain areas but not as specific as what you are looking for.

If it is IT related send me a PM and I can compare it to what dollar amounts for full time jobs people in the Midwest and Toronto are getting.

Don't forget that years of experience in related field, degree, field of study, location and previous position, and salary history all have an impact on what you will make at your next job.
