Thank God the instructors had the wherewithal to keep this student from being choked by the bridle.

When they say "PULL!!" they mean pull and THROW the damn pilot chute. That's a scary video.

Evidently she made a few jumps a couple years back with a rip cord and was use to hanging on to the rip cord.

I would almost go so far as to say that the student owes a case of beer. Granted, that's AFF training, but STILL. A case of beer is not too much to give up for someone saving your ass.

That's a pretty scary video, yes.... but I disagree with the description given by the video poster.

"student holds pc and it wraps around her neck"

should say instead

"student wraps bridle around her neck"

She didn't just hold the thing, she brought it under her body. I'm glad it worked out ok.

Possible yes, but evident no. Don't assume every reaction or problem has a precident. Some people do weird / dangerous things without a clear reason and with no prior history.

WTF am I lying about? and why would I?
I got the disc from one of the video guys and I could not figure out how to convert the format so I had a friend do it.
I desribed to him what happened but mabe I did not explain it to him clealy.

Everyone is quick to blame the student which is somewhat well placed, but I myself wonder how much real good dirt diving and training the student had. But not knowing the student, the instructors, or the full story I guess it would be best to withold judgement....

Well, AFAIK, Hollister uses the same Instructor to conduct Ground School, and he drills in several dirt dives with practice throws on a training container.

I went through ground school twice, my penalty for a several month Hiatus....

dirt diving ??? what about the fjc for petes sake...no onen I mean no one ever said hold onto the pc n fly in any fjc I have ever been involved . decapitation by pilot chute, ugh !
