Clubbing in Amsterdam?

I haven't been down there yet (Limited time so all I have seen is the Red light area and a lot of that LONG lit up street with all the shopping) but so I read all the good clubs are in the Leidesplein area. Any suggestions on the best ones and what should I know about them? Like dress codes, type of crowd, music, etc? Sorry..........I know I just got back to work but I am already planning my next vacation.

Melkweg (Milky Way) is a great club, close to Leidseplein IIRC. From Rock to Techno depending on the evening. No dress code. The only time I went there ended in a 8 way massage in front of the stage. 5 people on the 8 way I didn't know

Don't go to Amsterdam. You'll end up at a hostel and some weird dude with a sore on his lip will trick you into going to Slovakia because he'll say there's really hot chicks there that love American men. This can happen anywhere these days to any-one who even LOOKS American.
