SpeedRacer 1 #1 July 12, 2005 OK....sometimes when I get home from the gym I pull off my sweaty gym shirt & throw it on the floor. The cat sometimes comes up to this stinky, sweaty shirt & starts rubbing her head & face on it while kneading it with her paws & rolling on it. I noticed this with another female cat which my mother owned. Why do they do this? I thought cats were supposed to have more sensitive sense of smell than humans. And another thing: Cats seem to like morning breath. While you're lying in bed, they'll come right up & sniff your mouth & purr. kelel01 1 #2 July 12, 2005 I asked about this a couple of weeks ago! My question was, do they understand the concept of something smelling BAD? Maybe it smells stronger, but it doesn't smell BAD to them.

mailin 0 #7 July 12, 2005 OMG - I thought it was just my cat! I came home from the gym yesterday and it was about 90 outside, adding my workout to that and I was drenched! I threw my sports bra and shirt on the floor as I jumped in the shower and I come out to see my female cat rubbin herself all over my sweaty clothes! My male cat loves to wake up my husband in the morning - even I won't do that without holding my nose JenArianna Frances
RoysPlayThing 0 #8 July 12, 2005 Cats love the scent of their owners or care-takers. My cat did the same thing too he always cuddled on clothes I have worn or wear I slept because they want to be by your scent... they don't necessarily smell the bad odor.. they smell your scent in a stronger way (sweat or wearing it all day) and this attracts them more. I trained one of the cats I used to have from a baby to sleep in his little bed and not be crying during the night by putting a lounge shirt I used to wear around the house, in his bed. this kept him calm and let him know we were not far away from him, but right by his side. _______________________________________________ My mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open. motorheaddown 0 #10 July 12, 2005 Yep... same thing happens with my cat. I come home from work, and the darn cat buries her head in my shoes. Then, she'll try to rub her face on my socks. Weird indeed.

J Dogs like licking salty skin too - they're good for cleaning wounds.Yup, the sandpaper tongue may not feel the best, but it helps cats generally keep much cleaner than dogs.
