Dictionary Words of the Year

Recommended Posts

The Merriam-Webster dictionary web site has sorted through thousands of user hits from their online dictionary to find the ten words that have most consistently piqued your curiosity this past year.

The top ten word lookups for the year are:

1. integrity
2. refugee
3. contempt
4. filibuster
5. insipid
6. tsunami
7. pandemic
8. conclave
9. levee
10. inept

* * *

It's obvious that most of those words come from politics and natural disasters. But why would "insipid" and "conclave" have been browsed so often?

The contempt of the inept engineers for the tsunami in regards to the integrity of the levee left refugees in danger of starting a pandemic of whining; however, the filibuster decided in a conclave of the state government insipid of original ideas proved the nation's worst fears.

BAM! All in one sentence. A compund sentence, but one none the less.

Is it just me or is anyone else scared/impressed by the fact that Dave came up with that and typed it within 4 minutes?

The integrity of the refugee who voiced his contempt is now being questioned as he is a filibuster with an insipid personality who chose to voice his opinion that the tsunami and its pandemic effect was a terrorist masterplan whereas revelations from the recent conclave show that it was simply the levee which was to blame for being inept.
