scottbre 0 #1 September 20, 2006 Does anyone actually expect our jump ticket prices to reflect this? Since gas prices have certainly been DZO's excuse for raising jump ticket prices, it certainly follows that a correct in the price of fuel would lead to a correct in jump ticket prices as well. What do you think? "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
The111 0 #2 September 20, 2006 Keep in mind the price hike was delayed, since gas is purchased in advance by the DZ. Any lowering of the price (if it does happen) would likely also be delayed.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
steveorino 7 #3 September 20, 2006 Has AV gas gone down that much? Not here. At least not at the same rate as auto gas. BTW. Your poll is lacking. Few DZOs are out there making a killing. Small businesses can be a drain on your pocketbook. Try funding smething like a DZ that has high cost maintenace like an airplane, gear purchase and upkeep, business that is seasonal to some extent, but at least depends on good weather, all that plus DZ politics. Puhleease. DZO, Lloyd, I'm glad you're doing it, becauseI never would! steveOrino
Lindercles 0 #4 September 20, 2006 This is an excellent model for polls. I'm thinking of posting this one: Subject: Are you gay? Options: 1. Yes. 2. No because I repress my latent homosexual tendencies. 3. No because I have a small penis.
Sockpuppet 0 #5 September 20, 2006 Does anyone know what rough % of a $20 jump ticket is made up of gas? It cant use *that* much gas to get 10 jumpers to 13,000ft? ------ Two of the three voices in my head agree with you. It might actually be unanimous but voice three only speaks Welsh. BIGUN 1,053 #7 September 20, 2006 At a 182 DZ that had brought in a Caravan for a boogie. Four way team climbs in the door and is dirt diving the exit while the engine is running. DZO comes over and hollers above the engine noise; "That dirt dive is costing ten bucks a minute, who's account do I charge it to?!?!?" Talk about an instant attention-getting device - Cracked me up...Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. 2fat2fly 0 #8 September 20, 2006 Correct. At least in the Southeast where my customers are 100LL is not dropping like auto gas is. But, it also hasn't been as volatle as the car gas market. Most FBOs base price on what they paid for the last load-they never raised prices 3 times in one day.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

skyberdyber 0 #10 September 21, 2006 You know, I heard a quote once that seems to apply, "skydiving would be a great industry if it weren't for the skydivers." Cost per jumper $14 per slot Jet Fuel- $3.00 per gallon (and that is EXTREMELY conservative) 25 gallons per load -20 King Air or Super Otter. That's $75 per load or $7.50 per jumper with your 10 jumpers. You do the math genius. This post really pissed me off as the tone of this poll does. The notion that somehow DZO's are supposed to be in this and provide top notch gear, facilities, and turbines and not make money. I'll tell you what pal, you should be paying $30-$35 per load like they do in other countries. You should consider yourself lucky. What do you do for a living and how much do you make? Maybe you should shut your mouth, get out here, make sacrifices, and bust your ass every day just to have jumpers talk shit about you at every turn and see what it takes. On second thought, I'd just as soon you keep it to yourself, say "Thanks DZO", and cough up the extra $1.50 per jump that you would otherwise waste on a night of internet porn, booze, or those couple must have tunes on your IPOD that you'll listen to 3 times and toss out. Thanks to the couple of level headed people that have illustrated absurdity with absurdity. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
jtval 0 #11 September 21, 2006 Hey Trey, FYI- I Miss your DZ. I don't own one but I do throw bbq's one a year fro everyone. It takes alot of planning and expense just to get it all together. Than once it come to the weekend I dont get to jump because I am running all of the events. I could only imagine how nutty it would be on a daily (or every weekend) basis. My next trip to the east coast is to GA. and My G/F and I will be stopping in. She hasn't been there yet, EDIT:Oh yea, and I need a kickin chicken sandwich from ZAXBY'sMy photos My Videos

I asked a question about how much fuel a load uses - I dont give a hoot how much the DZO makes I was just interested in the fuel used as this thread is about gas prices. ------ Two of the three voices in my head agree with you.
