What's the coldest temperature you've ever seen where you live?

Recommended Posts

When I was a kid growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, I don't remember what year, but it got down to -12F. Fuck, that's cold for Alabama! :o

Where I live now, 3F a few years ago. It's already been as low as 12F this winter.

When I lived in Saskatchewan I remember -45 C once.

For those of you still on the "other" system, that's -49 F

Fuck, that's cold enough to turn engine oil into a thick jello consistency. Ain't no starting your car in that!

-42 degrees Celsius = -43.6 degrees Fahrenheit
That's what I've felt for 2 weeks while going up north in quebec a couple of years ago.
Local TV station message was:
- If you don't have to go out don't go!!!!!
- If you are out don't breath fast - your lungs might freeze!!!

I have some frost bites but not from that!!! I was playing hockey in -25 C for 2 hours and my right leg turned blue!!!

Edit to add: -42 C without wind !!!!!!!!!!

It was 5 deg. today and I flew one load. Was the coldest temps I have ever witnessed people jumping in!!!

that is totally nuts! Imagine the WCF on jump run! :S My coldest jump was 32F on the ground and jumping at 10K. I would have to get a free jump just to do it again. :D

Here in Tahoe it can get pretty cold when you add the wind chill factor in. I think the coldest I can remember snowboarding in was around -18. That was in the late 90's.

The essentials of life in cold climates:
1- Electric Block heater
2- Electric Battery Blanket
3- Parking spots with Plug-Ins
4- Booze
5- Warm Women

Not sure about the order but it looks about right.

At my house in Chugiak, AK -35..didn't get above -20 for about 2 weeks.

At Clear, AK where I was working 1 year ago...-56 two nights in a row. So cold that my radiator "slushed" up driving at highway speeds...had to drive about 40 until it "warmed up" to -38..then things were fine.

When in the Army I jumped on the Yukon river at Galena, AK..was -47 when we stepped out of the door and got down to -65 that night.

I'm planning on buying a boat and living in the BVI until I thaw out.

LOL!

I don't know where it was on the thermometer (hence, "seeing" the cold), but every few years we get cold weather and have a blast where our highs are below zero and our lows are in double digits below. Still, I think it probably was only in the - twenties.

It probably comes from Canada. :P

I'd say "fuck you" but that might come off as a PA.

So I'll say ... nothing ...
