Stay the fuck away from Carnival. They're just out to wring every last cent out of you. :|

Just cause fat people have to buy 2 airline seats doesn't mean they have to buy 2 cruise rooms. You'll be ok without losing weight first. :D

So you can put it back on when you're on the cruise? I've heard those things are all about eating... you're on constant feeding schedule. :D

I dunno, but my father-in-law liked Royal Carribean. He has done a Carnival cruise as well, and liked RC a lot better.

I've taken two Carnival cruises, and I didn't have too many troubles. I'm taking Cora on another one for her birthday, but we'll probably be going via Royal Caribbean instead. Carnival has nice 5-day trips to the USVI and BVI. the one that took me to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Barbados and Martinique was especially fun. I'm sure that RC has similar trips.

My favorite cruise I've been on had a stop in Roatan Bay, Honduras, it has beautiful white sand beaches, and my parents friends said it has some of the best scuba they've ever seen. A good set of destinations for a seven day cruise that my parents took me on in highschool (twice) was Cozumel, Cancun, Roatan Bay, and Belize City (maybe not in that order, can't remember)
We die only once, but for such a very long time.

I'll believe in ghosts when I catch one in my teeth.

I have to agree with McDuck as the wife and I have done 5 Carnival Cruises. Had a great time the food was wonderful and yeah, I spent a bunch of extra money on booze, but the prices were well advertised and if you don't buy those special drinks in the take home cups it is a good bit cheaper. As far as shore excursions go, well they cost the same no matter which line you are on. Shore excursions can get expensive so check into them before hand. They are offered through the cruise line, however they are paid for separately. Normally they are just excursions that the cruise line approves...

The on-board entertainment is usually great! Go and have fun!;)

Carnival is a younger crowd, last time I went on RC they wouldn't let singles on under 21 without a parent or marriage license, don't know about Jaxville, we've gone on a couple out of Port Canaveral, AAA has some deals
Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

...Shore excursions can get expensive ...

Here's some tips.

When you go ashore to feel the local culture, there will be many street vendors hawking stuff.

Do NOT buy stuff on your way in. If you're going to buy stuff, buy it on the way OUT.
1. You don't have to lug it around with you all day.
2. Prices will be MUCH cheaper on the way out (last-chance to sell to you).
3. Haggle your ass off...it's expected and it's fun.

Shrek, a special note for you.
1. Do NOT buy Brandy a lawnmower for her B'day.
:D:D
My reality and yours are quite different.

Skinny,

I've been on several cruises, and honestly, it depends on what you want in a cruise.

If there are any kids going, Disney is by far the best! But, there is not a casino on their ships....

If you want a less formal environment, Carnival is the one that caters to that crowd. Dinners are not quite as dress up, but it is also the most popular for teenagers and senior cruises and such.

Royal Carribean, which is probably my favorite, is mostly a younger middle aged crowd.

All cruises nickel and dime you to death once you are onboard. As long as you know what to expect upfront, it's not a big deal at all. Expect to pay resort prices for beer and other adult beverages. For the non-drinkers or those that will drink, but not alot, buy the Beverage card. It's a card that give you unlimted soft drinks, only catch is, it's only good at certain places. All ships use a cashless system, you use your room key and charge everything to your room. If your on a budget, keep your reciepts and a running tab of what you are spending. I highly recommend pre-paying for your gratuities and as much stuff as you can.

On-board casinos will let you charge chips to your room, but they do charge a small fee for the service. If you want to save the fee, carry cash for gambling. Some people avoid carrying large amounts of cash by just charging it to the room.

And most of all, SHOP ONLINE for your cruise. There are plenty of places online that allow you to save a ton of money when booking.

where online is the best and roughly how much per person should i look into spending for a decent cruise. I just want a decent cabin, unless the lottery comes in then all of you are in on the cruise.lol
What is the average cost you spend on maybe a 5 day one not including the poker room:D

Check out www.vacationstogo.com I have not used them, but they seem to have some pretty good deals. I'm pretty sure I'll use them for my next cruise.

Also, you can put money onto your cabin account ahead of time if you want to spread out some of the costs. How much you'll spend depends highly on shore excursions and alchohol consumption.

We don't do many shore excursions, most of them are way overpriced. You can usually find the same tours at the port when you get there for 1/2 the price, but they're not "cruiseline approved" and you need to be careful.

I thin the most fun I have ever had was on DZ cruise with Taylor610 when we went out on a booze cruise to Dunn's River falls in Jamaica and then one of the guys there took us around in his cab for several hours afterwards bar hopping and such. He kept the local beggars away from us and took very good care of us. Of course he was compensated well too.
