akurtom 0 #1 May 14, 2008 OK...need to get a non-biased opinion about an insurance claim since I know nothing about insurance companies and how they work. If someone lends their car to a friend and the friend returns the car untouched...but leaves the car in gear (manual transmission). The next day the owner of the car activates the autostart feature they installed post-factory....and the car rolls into another car. Who is responsible for the crash? DougH 270 #3 May 14, 2008 Bingo! Said owner, and said shop who installed the remote starter are both idiots. Luckily they didn't kill any one."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
downwardspiral 0 #4 May 14, 2008 You leave your car in neutral every night so you don't have to walk out to your car to start it in the morning? Sounds like you should have bought an automatic.www.FourWheelerHB.com

JohnRich 4 #6 May 15, 2008 Owner responsible. The borrower doesn't know your habits with "autostart", or maybe doesn't even know you have it. It's your responsibility after loaning it out, to ensure that it's safe again for your autostart technique. Even if you had told him specifically to leave it in neutral, it's still your job to check and make sure he did it.
