Heavy rock songs. What are your favorites?

In the vein of "here's something different" this is "KLAATU" from their first album. I like the very clean lead guitar, the rhythm change in the middle of the song makes me "head-bob" & the distorted guitar at the end is interesting.

Wow, I haven't heard them since the 70s

But these days , been listen to Tool

and not really "heavy" But I like "the airborne toxic event"

Any TOOL fan should appreciate Stone Sour. They're labeled as a Slipknot "side project," but they started first, and they're stuff is light years beyond the Slipknot kiddie crap. I'd peg them as almost as sophisticated as TOOL. Ignore the two power ballads that got on the radio and check out the rest.

I usually don't listen to this type of music as it makes my PTSD flare up but a friend showed this group to me and I couldn't help but notice how the lead singer was able to go from a growl to such a melodic voice all in the same song. She's got a good set off pipes.

Straight Line Stitch
Remission The vocal change up comes around 1:30 and lasts throughout the whole song

Black Veil The vocal change up comes around 1:22

I like heavy head bangin shit, but I'm not impressed. [:/]

Like I said, its typically not the type of music I go for. But as a metal band you don't often see female lead singers that can actually sing. If you listen to some of their other songs you can hear more of her singing talent and less of the metal growl/screaming that similar bands rely solely on. Again, not my flavor but you can hear that the woman has talent, check it out.

I forgot about Crazy Train by Pat Boone.

Probably best if everyone forgot that. Randy Rhoads probably rolled over in his grave over that one.

Rise Against
Alter Bridge (Creed, harder and better without Stapp)
Tool
AC/DC
Theory of a Deadman/Bad Girlfriend
P.O.D.
Breaking Benjamin
Old Nickelback (Pre Mutt Lange)

Yeah, that was good. Nice voice. I always wondered if the gutteral singing used in some metal would damage vocal cords after a while. This guy's voice is really good.

well, at risk of showing my age ... how about some Bloodrock or Mountain?

Bloodrock, I never liked. Mountain-different story. Leslie West is brilliant. And...they're back performing again, new album due in December.

So many friggin' sweet songs. I like em all! Such a wide range as well, almost like a rock history class.

LouDiamond, if you like that group maybe you would dig Lacuna Coil? No screaming but one of the better female vocals imo.

rock history class?!?!?! you mean they have classes about stuff like this?
