NWFlyer 2 #2 October 15, 2010 My first experience was on day 3 or 4 of a 6-day hospital stay following an accident (non-skydiving related). They were looking at my thigh to see if they could determine if my femoral nerve was severed (fortunately it was just compressed and I eventually regained function as the swelling in my leg subsided). By this point, I was on several days of crappy, fitful, oft-interrupted, narcotic-addled "hospital sleep." I got there and promptly dozed off. The jackhammer sounds were oddly soothing. I've had three more since then (one head, one shoulder, one knee) and in all cases I was at a much more normal energy level and found them mildly annoying but tolerable. Me, I have had a total of 4 Mris on my knee and 1 on my ankle. Welles 0 #9 October 15, 2010 I had one about a year ago and fell asleep inside the machine. I wasn't on drugs- just a long day and nice to lie down. Schedule it during your natural nap time if you can. The jack hammer noise is very loud, but rhythmic. Mine was for my right knee and nothing was required of me except to stay still- so no performance anxiety. Not a lot of fun with a tweaked back.... I always tell the techs please don't ask me how I'm doing. I'll be fine, let me sleep. I only wake up when they slide me out to put in the contrast. Just had one last month.
