Anyway, I want to confirm whether the antivirus/antiwhatever products that are made for Macs are a waste of time or not. What do you think? I'm out of my 'zone' on this one, I know very well you gotta stay really well covered for my PCs, but it seems like everyone with a Mac does nothing, despite there being so many software packages made for Macs - hard to believe it is all developed when there is no need. But the ones that are out there Apple does not offer any support. In fact they deny that any vulnerabilities are there. I'd say as long as your son doesn't download anything stupid then he'll be fine. Perhaps those viruses are the more initially benign in nature, but they eventually use up resources, blah blah. Do Macs have that sort of anti-spyware/adware/whatever built in, or are they just not vulnerable? For my PCs, besides current antivirus, I love adblocker addons to Firefox - so nice to not have ads and all that web tracking bullshit, and I've already added that to the Mac. This isn't my first encounter with a Mac, but it certainly reminds me that I've never understood how people think that they are more intuitive to use. Everything is so convoluted.
