airtwardo 6 #16 February 4, 2013 Quote Whatcha stuccoing? Lookin' into doing the front of the house, tired of annual wood replacement because of the Texas moisture rot...Also looking into Hardy planking the lower 8' all the way around...THAT's only about $20,000! The deck needs replacement this year too...6,500 in materials alone, should be a 'fun' week long project! ...12 years ago I'm tellin' her ~ But honey - it's a 30 year old, 5000 sqft. WOOD HOUSE in the middle of the WOODS in a 95% humidity county when it's not getting torrential thunderstorms or hurricanes, on 3 acres of old growth termite Disneyland trees...with a HUGE 27,000 gallon pool. I'm SURE the maintenance will be just a hair more than the 2600 sqft. brand new BRICK house we bought LAST YEAR! ...at least she listened to me when she wanted that 40 foot 'Clown Shoe' sailboat she fell in love with a few years back. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
normiss 643 #17 February 4, 2013 After our garage/walk-in pantry/new laundry room building project we stuccoed the entire house. Concrete block with the architectural grooves between the blocks was looking a bit dated. HardyPlanks were waaay out of price range. Sealed with Loxon then painted. Looks sooo much better. Amazon 7 #18 February 4, 2013 Just get it over with and buy the dayum recyled plastic decking like Trex or ChoiceDek. Let the little decomposers try to knaw on that and someone else 100 years from now deal with replacing it.
