normiss 635 #1 June 9, 2013 Stomach killing me all day. Felt very nauseous on 3 of the 4 loads I was on today. I thought I was going to puke on a student. Even sat near the door on a fun jump trying to decide if I should bail out to puke in the sky, puke out the door, or in my suit as I tell students to. I kept it down - but it WAS close. I think dehydration, heat, humidity, and a headache kicked my ass. I have a few air sickness bags for tandem students....maybe I should carry one again! What do you do if you feel so nauseous you WILL puke on the ride up?
Krip 2 #2 June 9, 2013 Hi Normiss Carry the puke bag. If you got to Up chuck and you'll feel a lot better. Then and get back to work. When we were flying low level missions on C-130's in Texas we had to fly in the back of the bus: hot, bumpy from the thermals. no visual of the horizon. I knew I was going to upchuck. Never went on those missions with out a sick sack. Sick sacks work on the plane. One Jump Wonder

FlyingRhenquest 1 #9 June 9, 2013 Hmm. If I feel that bad I don't jump. But I also haven't really gotten sick since I started skydiving. Didn't get so much as a cold or the flu this winter.I'm trying to teach myself how to set things on fire with my mind. Hey... is it hot in here? skymama 35 #10 June 9, 2013 Normiss went back to do more tandems today. I gave him my helmet to turn into Skysystems for me because I'm having some issues with it, forgetting about this thread and the wonderful advice you gave him. I sure hope he's feeling better today! Zep 0 #11 June 9, 2013 Suck it up cup cakes, I remember when I was your age doing the first lift after the night before eating half a pound of snails coated with garlic an some hot sickly sauce and downing half a gallon of Jeigermiester and a gallon of Guinness with cider and about five of Mitch's (Decotau) Margaritas If I could get Mitch and Maria to comment that was a bucking bronco jump I was over he moon. Ahh, the memories. Gone fishing

MikeJD 0 #13 June 10, 2013 normiss I thought I was going to puke on a student. That'd be a switch. Quote puke out the door Given that the airflow does weird things around the door, and based on past experience, that's not guaranteed to end well. I had a team mate throw up out of the door once, and it seemed to go everywhere except down and out. And I had another team mate lose her helmet on exiting from the float rail. It blew back into the plane. Quote What do you do if you feel so nauseous you WILL puke on the ride up? I have been there, and I remember it being a grim experience. In the end I put on my full face helmet. That actually made me feel worse, but at least I knew if I did throw up (which in the end I didn't), I wouldn't be sharing it with anyone else!
