Hi out there,

Your thoughts?

ATE: Oopsie, somehow when I 'copied' the link it grabbed the wrong one. Here is what I am/was trying to talk about:

Not worth the "top Story" slot it was given.

Just kids being insensitive kids. Today's 20 yr old was what 8 or so when 9/11/2001 happened. Giving this any attention beyond a dirty look is a waste of time. They don't care... they care less than you do.

Unless you wear a really shiny tin foil hat and you believe that both 9/11 and the boston bombing were inside jobs! (stand by for move to speakers corner in 3..2..1...)

Already THIS thread here in the Bonfire, and another one over in SC.

To answer, IMO, no. Tasteless and insensitive, but no more than many costumes. OJ and Nicole were pretty popular some years ago.

Not realizing that making a costume of an event where 3000 people were killed by terrorists would be offensive to some is pretty stupid, but not too surprising.

OTOH, my sister's husband used to work for LucasArts. They always had a pretty good Halloween party. One year the winning "Group Costume" was a re-enactment of the Titanic sinking. The ship was a 4-person rig, lots of people in costume, even the iceberg (2-person rig).
Was that tasteless?

Some people go to extraordinary lengths to get attention.

That was in poor taste and they knew it, the need to be an object of attention outweighed the offensive nature in their minds.

If ya can't do it with talent & creativity then do it with shock...'Piss Christ' comes to mind.

Duuude.. Jesse Ventura is off to never never land on conspiracies, but Michael Savage was sitting there in rapt awe as Jesse expounded that he modified the nano-thermite a wee bit with it now being set off by a Star Wars Death ray.. and that is why there was so much dust and only a 2.3 magnitude quake when the towers came down...

So much entertainment value for some people in New Zealand;)
