yoink 321 #26 February 12, 2015 billvon From my experience, the very best way to get into sailing is to have a friend of yours buy a sailboat. This. So very much this.
RMK 3 #27 February 12, 2015 One cheap/free way of sailing is watching CrewSeekers www.crewseekers.net for good trips. Some trips are shared expenses, some are free with all food included, some even pay you (for the experienced of course). You can get lucky and actually get yourself a free sailing holiday. I used them in the 90’s and early 2000’s and had very good luck. I even got one (a yacht race in the Mediterranean) where the owner even paid my airfare)."Pain is the best instructor, but no one wants to attend his classes"
Phillbo 11 #28 February 13, 2015 The hardest part about sailing is learning the terminology. I charter with the Moorings out of Tortola every couple years or so. Use to get a monohull when it was only 4 of us but our group has grown to 8 so we have taken a 52' cat the last 4 trips. Tons of room, each stateroom has it's own head and very easy to sail.
