GANSEVOORT | No one was injured Tuesday when a primary rocket failed to deploy, as the astronaut safely landed with the backup, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. The astronaut from Saratoga Space Adventures was able to use the backup rocket and landed safely off Cochran Drive, according to Gansevoort Assistant Space Chief Keith Burch. There were no injuries.

The primary rocket was released and was in a tree about 50 yards in back of a house at 203 Cochran Drive, Burch said

Officials were waiting for permission from the property owner to retrieve the rocket to analyze it to determine what happened.
