Unlucky, but lucky...

Recommended Posts

This morning my girlfriend got badly injured on landing after jumping a bridge in Southern Switzerland. She broke her back and was flown to Bern hospital straight away and has undergone surgery early this evening. Doctors say she'll be fine and will be able to walk again like normal. She'll be out the running for at least 6 months.

I hate to be in the UK right now not being able to put my arm around her...[:/] Makes me feel helpless!

Damn, life sucks sometimes...

Hate that. Just not quite lucky enough to come out unscathed.
I remember the hospital, it's for sick people, not BASE jumpers.
Funny, I was at a DZ yesterday doing that flying squirrel thing.
One of the topics of discussion around the water hole was hospital.
I am not the only one who finds a certain irony in the fact that while I lay in that hospital bed I couldn't wait to get up so I could go out and try that
same old silly trick again?! BASE is medicine enough, and I'm an addict.
Hope she heals up well and soon.

Hey guys,

Thanks to all for all the PMs and mental support.

Daniela is doing great looking at the circumstances, she walked again a little bit today... She needs a 2nd operation on Friday and has to stay a minimum of 2 weeks in the hospital to regain strength etc.

Keep sending your good vibes!

cheers.

Wish her fast healing for me. I know pretty much exactly what that's like, having once had to relearn to walk in a hospital, after a BASE accident. Support from family and friends is very important at times like that. I'm glad she has you to help, and to care.

The good thing to see in this accident it : it's happend in Switzerland !

Image the same shit in south america, middle of the wild forrest ..... she would never walk again, for sure !

Remember, never attemp a risky activity (and BASE is risky !) in a place where you didn't want to visit the hospital !

Blue skies !
