  2. Hey Joey, On my DZ, the rules is clear and simple : It's prohibited to frighten the DZ owner ! And I'm really afraid to make administrative paper work after an accident ... Andreas (really easy "afraidable" !) 3. Message from "Para-Club Fribourg" : Last Sunday, Mai 1st, 2011, the unbeliveable happend. Guy-Philippe Ayer left us sudently, after a skydiving accident. Known by all Swiss skydivers, Guy was also well known around the world. His commitment, his tallent, his safety "obsession", but also - over all - his desire to transmit his knowledge with passion, all that made Guy a leader in the Swiss Skydiving world and the earth of Para-Club Fribourg. Tonight, PCF deplore his President, his chief instructor, his best friend and an incomparable partner. We miss him already so much ... A last honour would occur at his home, Sous-la-Ville à Neyruz, Switzerland, Wednesday May 4th, at 2 pm. We express our consideration and condolences to Patricia, his wife, and to all his familly. All Swiss skydiver are with you. 4. OK, as instructor, DZO and former member of the Swiss Skydive board, I would try to answer for Switzerland. If somebody discover error in my post, don't hesitate to made corrections .. First of all, you would found all rules on the Swiss Skydive web site (in German and French) at : http://www.swissskydive.org/cms/front_content.php?idcat=42 1) Third party insurance (what kind of insurance papers do you have to have): You need a Third Party insurance covering at least 1'000'000 swiss francs ! USPA DIDN'T COVER THIS AMOUNT !!! You can take a temporary insurance through Swiss Skydive at : http://shop.swissskydive.org/insurance/index.php?lang=e for about 50 US$ (validity 3 month, only in Switzerland) 2) Licence (Valid through/expiry date? Indefintly valid?): Visiting jumper must show a valid licence recognised in their home country For information : Swiss Licence is provided by Swiss Skydive and is valid until March 31th, next year .. 3) Ownership (do you have to carry some kind of “statement of ownership”? If yes: please explain) No separate papers needed in Switzerland 4) Reserve (Described on packing card or extra paper? Serial or no serial? Lead-Seal required etc): Reserve is MANDATORY !!! (No "base jump" rig allowed for jumping from airplane/helicopter/balloon/etc.) Last packjob signed off by a rigger on the packing card (no lead seal required) 4 a) Repack cycles in your country? Do you accept other countries rules?: Repacking cycle is 1 year in Switzerland ONLY IF THE MANUFACTURER OF THE HARNESS, THE RESERVE AND THE AAD AGREE WITH THIS LIMIT. Otherwise, the most limitating make the rules (For exemple, a Quasar harness with Cypres and PD reserve has a limitation of 4 month, because Strong Enterprise give this limit for his harness) 5) AAD (Described on packing card? Serial or no serial needed? Maintainance cycle on packing card or extra paper?: AAD is recomended, but not mandatory ! No extra papers (maintenance cycle according to owners manual, there has to be no extra records for maintainance!) 6) Main (Described on packing card? Serial or no serial needed?): There is no rules for the main. If you want to sew it in your garage .... it's your problem ! 7) Gear/Container (Described on packing card? Serial or no serial needed?: Must be authorized in the home country of the user. No extra paperwork needed. 8) Who states the airworthiness? (Where? Packing card?): Rigger by date of last repack on packing card – no extra paperwork needed 9) Who is responsible for the airworthiness? (Rigger/Owner, etc?): User of rig ... except for "student" (In Switzerland, you still a student with a "A" licence !) where the school is responsible. That's all, folks ! Blue sky ! 5. Lauterbrunnen, nice mountain, big cliff, little village, snow and sun. There is everything there for make me happy ... except this place takes me 2 friends in just couple of years! In 2005, after almost 20 years of skydiving, I decide it should be fun... to start BASE. As mentor, I chose a really serious guy: my rigger! Stefan was packing my reserve since years (and he save my life couple of time) so I think he is the right man to teach me this new discipline. Together we made couple of jumps in "Les Diablerets" (from the cable car) and we even dream to open there a “BASE school”. But during next Easter week-end, while I was teaching AFF in Italy, Stefan goes jumping in Lauterbrunnen … He never came back and he leaves his wife and his 2 children behind him! 10 year before, in 1996, I meet Eli for the first time, when I organize one event of the “ESPN Skysurfing Pro Tour” in my DZ, in Gruyères, Switzerland. He was member of the “Fly Boys” and favorite for winning the Free Fly contest. Eli arrives in Gruyères with his “legend” of champion and I was really surprised to discover a humble and “humane” person. He never refuse to transmit his “tricks” to beginners, he accept to “lose time” with journalist from local newspaper (instead of making party with friends) and he was really respectful for his host. Since there, I meet Eli 1 of 2 time per years in different place (USA, France, Thailand) and even he still surfing “at the top of the wave” he stay the same good old fellow. And now he visit also Lauterbrunnen and he disappear, leaving Sara and his children! That’s why I would tell here, to every Eli’s friends, what I told already to Stefan’s friends, years ago: BASE jumping (or any jump close to the “wall”) is a really nice and exciting activity … when you’re 20, with no family “charge”, and you thing you’re indestructible. But, there is no place for mistake and …. one day, EVERYBODY make a mistake ! When you got married and start to have child, when you open your company and have responsibility or “just” when you have enough friends and don’t want made them sad … STOP BASE jumping! Today we are all sad for Eli’s family. But would you continue to take the risk that we should be, one day, sad for your family? Think about that … Andreas En chute, si que vous voyez les vaches comme des fourmis, ça va Si vous voyez les vaches comme des vaches, il est temps d'ouvrir Et si vous voyez les fourmis comme des vaches, c'est...trop tard!

  8. Hi Everybody, Here we go again … One more time, our school, with Glacier 3000, Tourism Office of Les Diablerets and Atlantic, organize the 2nd Benne Boogie. Please, don't "rush" to the registration form (and OF COURSE don't send me tons of email !) we still have some little points to solve before opening the registration. But, here is already the idea of how it would work this year : - We could jump during 5 days (Aug. 2nd til 6th) - Each day we will have 4 x 2 gondolas (we have each time 2 gondolas "back to back", so it's not possible to "double manifest") - You would have to pay a unique registration fee, than you buy each "jump ticket", like in a "plane boogie". So, you can come for one day … or for the whole boogie … or just for one jump ! New this year, it would be possible to register directly at Les Diablerets … if we still have slots ! - We would party every evening ! - And we still searching/preparing other "surprises" … Actually, we have some last point to solve then we will tell you the "prices" for registration and jumps. When we now those parameters, we will open the registration process. But you can already book the dates if you don't want to miss this big meeting ! Ciel bleu ! 9. Hello Everybody Some of you remember I try to organize jump from the Cable-car of les Diablerets ( pictures here ) for a TV production (Telethon) in 2000. Unfortunatly, weather was not good and we stay 3 days at the bar instead of jumping. HERE WE GO AGAIN ! I plan to make a "Cable-car boogie" Sept. 18th, 05. Programm : 4 jumps from the cable-car, in the upper section (225 m / 740 ft), between 9am and 5 pm ... Big Fiesta the evening Headache next morning ! Limits : Participants should have good (and appropiate) rigs. A group of expert (I would not be in, don't worry) could "ground" any "strange" rigs. Also, an experience in BASE jump would be required. Even a cable-car jump is not difficult, we didn't want to make static-line jumps for beginners ! Monney : A registration fee would be asked (about 120.- CHF / 100 US$). This would cover cable-car access and evening meal ... BUT NOT THE BEVERAGE !!! (I'm already poor enough !) Safety : A sanitary service would be organized, just in case ... Press : Ahhhh ! Here is a word BASE jumper didn't like, no ? But, for this event, you should make with ... or not come. Before accepting to let us use the cable-car, the owner of the company as been clear. His goal is to show the cable-car to a maximum of networks ! So we would have TV, radio, newspaper. Participants should show a "clean" and sportiv image. If you "shit on everything and vomit at the camera", please ... stay at home ! So, here is the main ideas. If you are interested, send me an email at [email protected] Carrefull : Because anti-spamming system, indicate in the subject of your message : "Cable-car boogie les Diablerets 2005" See you sone ... ciel bleu, rocher gris !
