However, in my case, I have never adamantly expressed my opinions and outright said Mel WAS Cooper. I think he should be investigated because he disappeared in 1971 and not heard from since. This is in addition to Mel having a lengthy criminal history, an FBI file and does resemble the physical description. I hope I have not been labeled as 'pushing' a suspect. I have never sought out a story in the media. I just wanted to know.....for personal reasons. With all the media attention I think I will be happy if L.D. is THE Cooper. When the camera showed the process how the paint was matched, she would yell out...oooohhh there is my hand....did everyone see my hand. Nice story. It takes a village. According to my independent research of the Green River Killer (I just finished an Intro to Forensic Science class). The trace evidence of the automotive paint left on the victim, in addition to the DNA (bodily contact), led to his conviction. The company that did the trace evidence was called Microtrace in Elgin, Illinois. The lead technician, Sarah, was our instructor.
