There is more than wingloading to consider. Wingloading scales linearly with area (by the definition of wingloading). However, volume (of air) does not scale linearly. The difference between a 170 and a 150 is not the same as a difference between a 150 and a 130, if there was such a size. Additionally, the lines are probably shorter. When a bunch of people tell you something's a poor choice there's a reason. Sure, you'll be able to find at least one instructor who says it's okay. But the aggregate speaks loudly... Well, of the three replies before yours, two were explicitly about the difference between the two canopies. And the other one, as shown above, was relevant advice from an instructor. The OP didn't just want to learn about the difference between the two canopies for the hell of it; he said he wanted to downsize. So comments concerning experience are certainly appropriate. Liability issues comes back to mind. OP: A lot of other student clubs are looking for ways to generate funds for their clubs. Say you can work out a deal with the DZO of $20-30/tandem and you give the referring club $10-$15 and some marketing assistance. Find out what other marketers are on campus and see if you can work with them. "$50 off your tandem/1st aff if you apply for a visa/mastercard", etc. Hustle and you will see some success and have a great time in the process. Best of luck to you.
