  1. Glad to hear that. There might be hope for you yet! "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  2. You took him to task for his "misdirection," which appears to be from critiquing what you hold dear. You were not clear on that point so you are right - the claims were implicit, not explicit. BTW, though Jillette is an illusionist, his standard approach is to reveal the basis of the illusion once it is performed. His presentation is a far cry from those who pretend that their stock in trade is magical. I guess I screwed up. The point I was trying to make is that Christian beliefs, regardless of the particular sect or denomination, has or, should have, no bearing on political office. Personally, I like knowing an elected official is a professed Christian. That is as far as it goes for me. It is not the basis of my vote. Jillette's initial premise was to guide atheists in choosing a candidate. He only critiqued the Christian based candidates, giving him the benefit here. Mormonism is not recognized as a Christian belief. It stands alone. He then proceeded with a monologue on his lack of understanding of their beliefs since he did not consider them crazy. Would you vote for an atheist? "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  3. He's an illusionist... ...that talks, even worse. I just knew you'd love him! "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  4. I know it's beyond the attention span of many on here...and it's getting a bit dated given the turn of events of late in politics, but it's interesting just the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJGxVeQw3SE&feature=player_embedded#! Thoughts, anyone? "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  5. I think there should be an option involving both jumping and the Nurse outfit. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  6. To be clear, they are harvesting Stem Cells from the blood, not marrow. The harvesting process is very similar to harvesting plasma cells from the blood. Blood is taken out through an IV, the stem cells are seperated out, and the remainder is reinfused into the donor through another IV. The Donor is usually given a growth hormone that spurs production of these stem cells. This process involves very little risk to the Donor. I have been both a donor and a recipient of this type of transplant. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." 8. Repost, but applicable. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  9. Considerably higher than being thunk up by a flying spaghetti monster. Take that back blasphemer! ....or he just might touch you with his noodley appendage...and not in the good way, either! 12. In deciding how to proceed, given the gravity of the situation, and considering the ramifications of your actions, maybe you should consider the question.... 14. This must be a parody? Yes, it is. It's an exaggerration of what some christians believe about beating children. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."

  16. I'm just glad she was Canadian, as she didn't pose a burden on American resources, even moreso had she survived until the next overdose, which she'd expect the public to subsidize. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Have you ever had someone you love die of an overdose? "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  17. I can see the appeal in saying this. A country is not a business, however. The goal of a business (most of them anyway) is to maximize profit. Running a country like that is a recipe for disaster IMO. I generally agree with this sentiment, but many of the traits of successful business leaders would lend themselves well to being President. 18. I've never based my vote on religious affiliation... I look for a balanced candidate that can speak for all people... I would even vote for an athiest if they were level headed...someone like BV, Winsor, or even Jakee... I would never vote for people like you Steve...or like Jclalor,Tkhayes, or Broken... You guys have clearly shown your bias and seem to have adopted an ideology very similar to anti-revisionism...History has already taught us to stay away from people like you... I'd never run for any office, and if I did you'd be smart not to vote for me. Likewise, you'd not get my vote. Can you guess why? becuase you lack the mental capacity to understand that my religious beliefs are my own and should not be forced onto anybody else? Nope...that's not it. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."

  20. That is very wide open Can you narrow it down a bit? But as an overall statement or comment, being a religious leader would not necessariy move to vote for or against one But there are too many varialbles It's my intent for the question to be pretty broad. Your answer works fine for me...Thanks for responding! "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  21. Would you vote for a religious leader for President? (I mean a Preacher/Rabbi/Imam, etc...) Why or why not? "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  22. Yes, but according to several polls here, if this incident happened in some other country, numerous members here would actually support this behavior, or else just ignore it as "none of their business". Because the last thing they want to be accused of is judging another culture, or having to actually stand up against something that is universally wrong, regardless of where it occurs. And if that means that innocents are harmed or wrong done, so be it. Just trying to enjoy what little common ground we have here, John. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  23. I think his actions will be universally condemned here in SC... "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  24. Thought you'd like this. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
  25. Whether lying is good or bad entirely depends on the situation, but it doesn't take a whole lot to realize that lying is essential to human society. So yes, lying is natural for humans to the point we couldn't survive without it. Interesting. I wonder if we should trust anything you say or do. I wonder if we should trust those who wholeheartedly believe things for which there is no evidence, such as yourself. "Science, logic and reason will fly you to the moon. Religion will fly you into buildings." "Because figuring things out is always better than making shit up."
