  1. If everyone has a 1 million dollars, no more, no less, how much is it worth?
  2. And what about the rest of the world? Also, the standards used to determine the "poverty line" in each country is different. Also, the poverty line may include things like people who put themselves are in debt because they bought to big of a house and too nice a car and therefore are in "financial poverty". People who live on the welfare system or food stamps may be considered to live in poverty but are they really? I have known people who were on food stamps that had bigger homes and nicer cars than I have.
  3. a high rate of poverty and homelessness in the USA......as compared to what other country?
  4. I am just wondering why it is not fair that hard working people can give thier kids a better life and better opportunities? Why is it fair to raise taxes or penalize all CEO because of a few?(lets keep in mind that the few we are complaining about broke laws, taxing won't keep them from braking laws.) If I work hard and kick my butt so that I can be a CEO why should I pay more taxes? Why can I give my kids better chances? When will people let go of the idea that because someone has more that they are somehow evil? When will we realize that it is not fair to take away from someone who has more just because they have more? Redistribution of wealth is another way of say communism and have we not seen what communism does to countries?
  5. Thats how I feel. I didn't consider myself a skydiver until I reached this point. Of course becoming liscenced is the ultimate goal but doing it all on your own and saving your life is a all it really comes down to.

Protecs are effect, comfortable, and cheap. And they really don't look bad, they just don't look as cool as others. Besides I would rather ensure the safety of my nogin than sacrifice safety and money to look cool.
  7. My first tandem, although incredibly enjoyable, was not like most people found it either. Most others were jumping up and down yelling in exitement about what they had just done. I found it surreal and actually calming. My first solo was a complete different experience as well as all my jumps up to this point! When tandem I don't have to do anything and am simply along for the ride with someone who has thousands and thousands of jumps. I don't have to think or really do anything while tandem. Now that I am solo, I have a lot of things to remember, learn, and concentrate on. I must take action and take the appropraite action. I am no longer along for the ride. My first IAD and 2 clear and pull jumps were the most rush I have ever felt! It was me, it was something I did, it was the accomplishment of doing something so few are able to do. Anyone can go tandem. They may even pass out, but they can still do it as they are really doing nothing. That is why, as wonderful as it was, still didn't just make me run in circle with exitement. Jumping on my own is a completely different story and I can't get enough of it!
  8. When Reagan entered office the United States inflation rate stood at 11.83%[85] and unemployment at 7.5%.[86] Reagan implemented policies based on supply-side economics and advocated a laissez-faire philosophy,[87] seeking to stimulate the economy with large, across-the-board tax cuts.[88][89] Citing the economic theories of Arthur Laffer, Reagan promoted the proposed tax cuts as potentially stimulating the economy enough to expand the tax base, offsetting the revenue loss due to reduced rates of taxation, a theory that entered political discussion as the Laffer curve. Reaganomics was the subject of debate with supporters pointing to improvements in certain key economic indicators as evidence of success, and critics pointing to large increases in federal budget deficits and the national debt. His policy of "peace through strength" (also described as "firm but fair") resulted in a record peacetime defense buildup including a 40% real increase in defense spending between 1981 and 1985.[90] During Reagan's presidency federal income tax rates were lowered significantly with the signing of the bipartisan Economic Recovery Tax Act of 1981.[91] Real gross domestic product (GDP) growth recovered strongly after the 1982 recession and grew during his eight years in office at an annual rate of 3.4% per year.[92] Unemployment peaked at 10.8% percent in December 1982—higher than any time since the Great Depression then dropped during the rest of Reagan's presidency.[89] Sixteen million new jobs were created, while inflation significantly decreased.[93] The net effect of all Reagan-era tax bills was a 1% decrease in government revenues.[94] Reagan also revised the tax code with the bipartisan Tax Reform Act of 1986.[95]
  9. It is truely amazing how quickly people have forgotten all the weapons and chemical weapons found in Iraq which the UN inspectors, under the clinton era, had tried so hard to find, the celebration of the people of iraq when the soldiers freed them from Saddam, all the people that Saddam tortured and killed, when Saddam used chemical weapons on his own people, all the humanitarian work the military has done for the people and children there, the continuous terrorist attacks on the people of iraq, and the iraq terrorist training camps. All these things are very recent history yet people continue to forget or ignore them. It is truely sad.
  10. Terrorists have tried several times in the past to blow up airliners with liquid explosives... The U.S. government has focused on the threat of liquid explosives since at least 1995. That's when they learned about a plot in the Philippines to plant bombs on 11 airliners bound for the United States. The plotters apparently wanted to use liquid nitroglycerin. They planned to smuggle it aboard in bottles made for contact lens solution. But the plan came apart when there was a fire in the apartment where the bombs were being made. (A test run for that plot, a plane bound for Tokyo, resulted in the detonation of a liquid explosive in-air. One person was killed, and pilots were able to land the plane.) Experts believe that terrorists have since moved on to use the type of explosives previously described, where the components are carried separately and then mixed at the site, to reduce their instability. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5633568

  16. I think my favorite part may be the ride up and the opening the door and getting out as well, but I have to say that watching the airplane fly away from you as you fall is really close as well!
  17. Hey! You ever seen a movie where someone jumps out of a moving vehicle? Notice that they don't try to slide but roll instead. Same thing here.
