I work in an Alky unit here in Deer Park. When I hired in, I can remember the process specialist asking me if I had ever worked in an Alky plant before. He told me they dont catch on fire and burn. They explode and leave large holes in the ground. The control room I am sitting in right now is 40 feet from an Alky unit that has the potential to wipe Deer Park off the map. I just read where they confirmed another body. It is a very sad day in the Petrochemical industry. You dont't get to choose how you're going to die. Does anyone on here know anyone that works at the BP/Amoco Refinery? I spoke with some co-workers this morning that are on emergency response teams. When Refinery's have catostrophic incidents all the other plants come together for aid. They said the damage is pretty substantial. Very tragic indeed. My condolences go out to the friends and family of the victims out in Texas city. I work in a refinery here in Deer Park and always play the "what if?" game. Its been 15 years since the Phillips tragedy. If you work in a refinery long enough, your bound to see some sort of catastrophic event. It was a little Boogie they had there. I think there was 62 jumpers. It was a real good time. I met people from all over the world. I removed the cover on mine with no problems. The only problem I can see is maybe getting dust and dirt into the other ports that are open. I think they make little plastic plugs to go into the open plug holes. I am going to go to radio shack to see if I can find some. You dont't get to choose how you're going to die. I am a free diver. I am heading to Belize this weekend for the Boogie down there. When I am not jumping I will be spear fishing. The reason I got into freediving was because it is illegal to spearfish in Belize SCUBA diving. Here in Texas you can go offshore and shoot fish SCUBA diving. It makes it way more of a sport trying to shoot fish on one breath. Most of the depths that I shoot fish down in Belize are depths of 25-35 feet. I would Highly recommend it to anyone. I checked out the web site and it said 135 mph air speed. It looks like some of the guys are freeflying. Did you bring your own suit? I consider myself a decent flyer. I have been to the Fly away tunnel in Vegas two years ago and was not impressed. The operator kept speeding up the air speed to get me off the mesh. Then once flying he would slow it down and I would fall right back down. It was very inconsistent air speed. I might just go by and check them out for grins. Its on the way to the DZ anyways..... Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha ROTFLMAO..... I read some of your post about your experiences in it. I went out to the Vegas Fly Away tunnel two years ago. People warned me about not wasting my money. I should have spent the money at the DZ instead. I was very disappointed. If I ever get into another tunnel, it will be a Skyventure tunnel. Otherwise I will spend money at the DZ. My brother was passing by Belway 8 and Cullen on the south side of Houston today. He said there was a tunnel set up on the side of the road going east on Beltway 8.
